Vintage cars and art meet in the park of the Fondazione Bricherasio
Tra arte e motori is the annual event that transforms the park of the Emanuele Cacherano di Bricherasio Foundation, in the Morzano district of Roppolo (province of Biella, Piedmont), into an open-air museum. The title says it all: here, vintage cars and art meet in a dialogue between mechanics, design, illustration, and costume culture that chronicles over a century of automotive evolution.
The location is no coincidence. The Foundation stands in the complex commissioned by the Marchesa Eleonora Massel di Caresana to honor the memory of her nephew Emanuele Cacherano di Bricherasio, a gentleman passionate about horses and carriages who, sensing the potential of the motor carriage, was among the founders of FIAT in 1899 and a promoter of the Automobile Club d'Italia. The bond between the Count and the birth of the Turin automotive industry makes this place perfect for an event dedicated to four wheels.
The heart of the event is the car gathering: over one hundred automobiles from different eras are arranged in the Foundation's historic garden, from pre-war cars to more recent sports cars, and even the youngtimers most beloved by collectors. The gathering is organized in collaboration with the Club Ruote Storiche in Canavese and ASI-affiliated clubs, attracting enthusiasts from across the territory between Biella, Turin, and the Aosta Valley.
As a counterpoint to the cars, the interior rooms host an artistic exhibition that explores the relationship between the automobile and creativity: works and illustrations dedicated to design centers, canvases exploring the details of coachwork, and dioramas recounting the history of the automobile in print. This is what distinguishes "Tra arte e motori" from a standard rally: not just engines, but also the artists' perspective on the myth of the four-wheeled vehicle.
More than just an exhibition, the day is an opportunity to discover a little-known corner of the province of Biella, between the Serra d'Ivrea and Lake Viverone. The setting of the park, the hills, and the history of the place make "Tra arte e motori" an appointment that speaks to motor enthusiasts, art lovers, and families looking for a cultural excursion in north-eastern Piedmont.
For the 2026 edition, the Foundation's park welcomed over one hundred automobiles from different eras, with an exhibition route that took 1956 as a symbolic watershed: on one side, pre-1956 vehicles, and on the other, more recent sports cars and youngtimers. Among the vehicles present was a curious "newsstand vehicle" based on a 1960s FIAT 1100 TN.
Inside the rooms, works and illustrations by Mario Saroldi dedicated to design centers and canvases by Giovanni Rossazza on the details of coachwork were exhibited, alongside dioramas on the history of the automobile in print. The event, chaired by Maurizio Aiassa, was organized with the Club Ruote Storiche in Canavese and the ASI-affiliated clubs CA.ME.VA of Aosta and A.M.S.A.P. of Biella.
The 2026 edition featured a gathering of over 100 historic cars in the Foundation's park, with the layout structured around 1956 (the birth year of Quattroruote) as a watershed between vintage cars and recent sports/youngtimers.
