The great village festival of Cerrione featuring district challenges, sports, and live music
Every year in June, the Municipality of Cerrione, in the heart of the Lower Biella area in Piedmont, hosts one of its most cherished events: the Event's Village – Palio delle Contrade. Organized by the Pro Loco Cerrione, the festival brings the village in the Province of Biella to life for about ten days, transforming it into a large event hub where tradition, sport, gastronomy, and live music coexist.
The heart of the event is the Palio delle Contrade, a challenge that pits the village districts against each other in a series of trials and popular games. It is an appointment that strengthens the community's identity and ignites a healthy rivalry between the Cerrione teams: in the 2024 edition, the palio was won by the Contrada di Cerrione, in an evening of great participation also documented by the Pro Loco.
Among the most popular events is the 5000-meter 'Corri per Mucio' of Cerrione, a recreational and non-competitive road race open to everyone, organized by the Pro Loco with the technical collaboration of AS Gaglianico '74. The meeting point is in Piazza Quintino Sella, in Vergnasco, a hamlet of Cerrione. The evening opens with the children's race, the Palio dei Rioni, followed by the start of the main race along the village streets.
The Event's Village is not just about competition: the evenings are accompanied by food stands, social moments, and live concerts. Musical offerings include performances by tribute bands, such as 'Tribute Woman', which liven up the squares until late at night. The festival is designed for all ages, with spaces dedicated to children and a family atmosphere typical of the best Piedmontese village festivals.
More than just a simple festival, the Event's Village – Palio delle Contrade is an opportunity to discover Cerrione and its territory, made of hills, vineyards, and ancient rural traditions. The event attracts visitors from neighboring municipalities and represents one of the highlights of the local summer, capable of uniting different generations around the values of community and hospitality.
