Evening tour of the museum of fakes and a terrace toast at the Castle of Verrone
As shadows lengthen and the sunset light grazes the walls of the Castle of Verrone, the Falseum opens its doors for an extraordinary event. In the heart of the Biella province, in Piedmont, this one-of-a-kind museumโthe first in Italy entirely dedicated to fakes and deception as a historical, cultural, and social phenomenonโoffers an evening guided tour followed by a terrace toast. It is the perfect opportunity to experience the museum in a different, more intimate, and evocative light, away from the daytime crowds.
Established in 2015 by the Municipality of Verrone, the Falseum winds through thematic rooms that recount how hoaxes, scams, and forgeries have often had real-world consequences, sometimes even changing the course of history. From scientific fraud to the "fake factory," and from rumors to media manipulation, the exhibition path alternates multimedia installations, interactive games, and moments for reflection. During the evening tour, a guide accompanies participants through history's most famous deceptions, optical illusions, and the fake news of yesterday and today.
At the end of the tour, participants head to the castle terrace for a sunset toast. In the glass, a white wine from the Colline Novaresi or a rosรฉ from the Azienda Agricola La Riviera provides the perfect accompaniment to a convivial moment overlooking the Biella hills. In case of rain, the aperitif moves indoors to a room with a medieval atmosphere that makes the experience even more fascinating.
The Castle of Verrone, built between the 11th and 12th centuries and still partially serving as the town hall, is the ideal setting for a museum that plays with truth and its imitation. Visiting at sunset means combining the charm of an ancient fortress with the pleasure of an intelligent and entertaining exhibition, suitable for both history buffs and curious visitors looking for a unique experience in the Verrone and Biella area.
