The iconic multi-stage granfondo crossing the Alps stops in Alpe Cimbra
The Tour Transalp is one of Europe's most prestigious amateur road cycling stage races: a true crossing of the Alps that, year after year, combines sport, endurance, and breathtaking landscapes. In 2026, for its 22nd edition, the event reaches Trentino and selects Lavarone, on the Alpe Cimbra, as the site for one of the most important segments of the entire route.
The village of Lavarone Gionghi, in the municipality of Lavarone in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), takes center stage for two days. Friday, June 26th, the plateau welcomes the finish of the sixth stage, the Semonzo/Monte Grappa – Lavarone: approximately 125 kilometers and 2,800 meters of elevation gain winding between the Asiago plateau and the Alpe Cimbra, with curves and hairpin bends that put the athletes to the test. Saturday, June 27th, it is time for the start of the seventh and final stage, the Lavarone – Riva del Garda, the final 85 kilometers that lead the peloton to the finish line on the shores of Lake Garda.
The Tour Transalp gathers over 600 cyclists from more than 30 countries, attracting enthusiasts and advanced amateurs from all over the world. The race covers a total of approximately 750 kilometers and over 17,000 meters of elevation gain, from the Austrian Alps to the heart of Trentino. The Trentino stage represents a crucial moment in the race, between the final alpine climbs and the sprint towards the lake.
The roads of the Alpe Cimbra, amidst pastures, forests, and Dolomite views, offer an ideal setting for this competition. Beyond the race, the days of the Tour Transalp bring life to Lavarone and the entire Alpe Cimbra plateau, which also includes Folgaria and Luserna, with a festive sporting atmosphere. The award ceremony for the sixth stage, scheduled for the afternoon of June 26th, is open to the public and is a great opportunity to experience the event's atmosphere up close.
