The classic youth women's cycling race in Valsugana
The Coppa Rosa is a road cycling race reserved for the Donne Allieve category, held annually in Borgo Valsugana, in the heart of the Autonomous Province of Trento, in Trentino-Alto Adige. Organized by the Pro Loco of Borgo Valsugana, it represents the female version of the famous Coppa d'Oro and is part of the packed schedule of the so-called Golden Week of youth cycling, the event that transforms the Valsugana town into the capital of youth cycling every September.
Established in 2000, the Coppa Rosa has supported the development of numerous athletes who have since gone on to successful professional cycling careers. It follows the same regulations as the men's race, with the symbolic distinction that the final prize is dedicated to the sports director rather than the individual rider: a way to emphasize the teamwork that is the foundation of youth training. Over the years, the race has taken on an increasingly international scope, with foreign teams participating alongside the best Italian squads.
The race covers a distance of approximately 60 kilometers along a rolling circuit in the Valsugana valley, which is repeated several times. The start and finish are located on Via Spagolla, in the center of Borgo Valsugana, while the course alternates between flat stretches along the Brenta River and climbs that make the race selective. Compared to the men's event, the women's course is different but shares the same final finish line.
The Coppa Rosa is traditionally held on a Saturday, one day before the Coppa d'Oro dedicated to the Allievi category. The same weekend also features the Coppa di Sera, reserved for the Esordienti, and the Coppetta d'Oro for the Giovanissimi, creating a true festival of youth cycling that draws hundreds of athletes from all over Italy. For spectators, it is an opportunity to watch one of the most prestigious races on the national youth calendar for free along the town's streets.
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, Borgo Valsugana hosts a new edition of the Coppa Rosa, the classic race reserved for Donne Allieve. The day's program includes the team presentation at 10:30 AM in Piazza Degasperi and the start at 11:00 AM from Via Spagolla, with the finish expected around 12:45 PM. The race takes place on a rolling circuit of approximately 60 kilometers in the Valsugana area.
The Coppa Rosa opens the Golden Week of youth cycling weekend, which also features the Coppa di Sera for the Esordienti on the same weekend and, the following day, the historic Coppa d'Oro for the Allievi. A free event for the public, and one of the most anticipated on the Italian youth calendar.
