The autumn food and wine tour in the heart of Pontremoli
The Tour Day is one of the most popular food and wine events in Lunigiana, and the autumn edition is its October highlight: a multi-stop tour through traditional Pontremoli flavors held in the charming historic center of Pontremoli, in the province of Massa-Carrara, in the far north of Tuscany. The name itself is a local pun: written in English as "Tour Day," it sounds like "Turdèi" in the local dialect, which means tortelli, one of the city's signature dishes. Over the years, the format has expanded to include more seasonal dates, and autumn is the perfect time to enjoy Lunigiana cuisine at its most abundant.
The concept is simple and engaging. You register for free (online via Eventbrite or the official website) and pick up your passport, the Tour-dépliant, at the stand in Piazza della Repubblica. From that moment on, you are free to walk between dozens of stops scattered through the alleys and squares of the village: taverns, historic shops, bars, and venues, each offering a specialty. For every tasting, you receive a stamp in your passport, just like a real gourmet treasure hunt. Recent editions have featured over twenty gastronomic stops, with thousands of participants crowding the center with their "passports around their necks."
The Tour Day is above all a journey through the typical products of Pontremoli and Lunigiana. Specialties you can taste along the way include testaroli, torta d'erbi, tortelli pontremolesi, zuppa pontremolese, spongata, erbadela, local cured meats (salami, coppa, spalla cotta), and the famous Amor pastry, two thin wafers filled with a delicate cream. Autumn adds seasonal flavors to the table in this border territory suspended between Tuscany, Liguria, and Emilia, where the culture of mushrooms and chestnuts is a way of life.
Designed for a wide audience—groups of friends, foodies, and families—the event is also child-friendly: most of the food offerings are "kid-approved." There is no set route: you can decide how many stops to make and whether to dedicate an hour, a day, or the entire weekend to the event. Organized by the Farfalle in Cammino association together with the Pro Loco of Pontremoli and the Municipality of Pontremoli, with the collaboration of Slow Food, the autumn Tour Day is a major attraction that brings thousands of visitors to the city, boosting local shops and businesses in the historic center.
The autumn edition of the Tour Day 2026 will be held in Pontremoli on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, 2026. As per tradition, the meeting point is Piazza della Repubblica, where you pick up your passport and start the multi-stop tour through the taverns and shops of the historic center.
The detailed program of stops and the complete list of participating venues will be published on the official website and social media channels in the weeks leading up to the event. The format remains the established one: free registration (also on Eventbrite), brochure by voluntary donation, and each stop costing between 1 and 5 euros.
