About Tour Day

The Tour Day in Pontremoli is a gourmet walking tour through the historic center of this Lunigiana town, in the province of Massa-Carrara. With your passport in hand, you wander from stop to stop between taverns, artisan shops, and bars, collecting a stamp for every tasting while discovering traditional Pontremoli flavors: testaroli, torta d'erbi, tortelli (the "turtèi" that inspired the "Tour Day" pun), and the unmistakable Amor pastry. A true treasure hunt for the palate, fun for the whole family.

A gourmet treasure hunt in Pontremoli

The Tour Day has become one of the most beloved food and wine events in Lunigiana: a multi-stop tour through traditional Pontremoli flavors held in the charming historic center of Pontremoli, in the province of Massa-Carrara, at the northern tip of Tuscany. The name itself is a local pun: written in English as "Tour Day," but pronounced in the local dialect, it sounds like "Turdèi"—the local word for tortelli, one of the city's signature dishes.

How it works

The concept is simple and engaging. You register for free and pick up your passport (the Tour-dépliant) in Piazza della Repubblica, where the event stand is located. From that moment, you are free to walk between dozens of stops scattered throughout the village's alleys and squares: taverns, historic shops, bars, and local spots, each offering a specialty. For every tasting, you receive a stamp in your passport, just like in a real gourmet treasure hunt. Recent editions have featured over twenty food stops, with thousands of participants crowding the center "passport in hand."

The flavors of Lunigiana

Tour Day is above all a journey through the typical products of Pontremoli and Lunigiana. Specialties you can taste along the route include testaroli, torta d'erbi, Pontremoli tortelli, Pontremoli soup, spongata, erbadela, local cured meats (salami, coppa, spalla cotta), and the famous Amor pastry—two thin wafers enclosing a delicate cream. A culinary map that tells the story of a borderland territory, suspended between Tuscany, Liguria, and Emilia.

An event for everyone

Designed for a diverse audience—groups of friends, food enthusiasts, and families—the event is also open to children, with most food offerings being "kid-friendly." There is no mandatory route: you can decide how many stops to make and whether to dedicate an hour, a day, or the entire weekend to the event. Organized by the Farfalle in Cammino association together with the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Pontremoli, Tour Day has become a major attraction that brings thousands of visitors to the city with every edition.
