The nightly torchlit descent on the snows of Monte Baldo, in Polsa and San Valentino di Brentonico
The Torchlight Ski Parade is one of the most beloved winter events in the Brentonico Ski area, in the municipality of Brentonico, in the Province of Trento, and the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Every Thursday evening during the ski season, as darkness falls, instructors from the Scuola Sci Monte Baldo glide down the slopes holding lit torches: from above, they form a long serpent of light winding through the snow—a silent, enchanting spectacle that captivates both adults and children.
The torchlight parade brings life to the two plateau resorts that make up the Monte Baldo ski area: Polsa and San Valentino di Brentonico, at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters, within the Monte Baldo Local Nature Park, on the side overlooking Lake Garda. These wide, well-exposed slopes become the natural stage for this tradition every evening.
To best enjoy the torchlit descent, it is recommended to reach one of the observation points suggested by the organizers:
From these spots, you can take in the entire slope illuminated by the torches, soaking in the warm, intimate atmosphere typical of mountain evenings.
The Torchlight Ski Parade is free to attend: no booking or skiing is required to watch. It is a perfect occasion for families with children, guests of the plateau's hotels, and anyone spending a snow holiday in Brentonico who wishes to experience the mountains after sunset. The event takes place weekly, weather and snow conditions permitting, and is organized by the Scuola Sci Monte Baldo, a reference point for lessons and activities on the slopes of Polsa and San Valentino.
Nestled in the setting of the Monte Baldo Nature Park, the torchlight parade is much more than a night descent: it is a symbol of the hospitality of a friendly, peaceful Trentino destination, where the tradition of ski instructors turns into a small collective ritual. The luminous trails descending in the silence of the evening remain one of the most beautiful memories of a winter holiday on the Brentonico plateau.
During the 2025/2026 winter season, the Torchlight Ski Parade returned with its usual weekly schedule: every Thursday evening from January 15 to March 19, 2026, starting at 6:00 PM, in addition to the New Year's Eve torchlight parade on December 31, 2025. The instructors of the Scuola Sci Monte Baldo descended the slopes of Polsa and San Valentino di Brentonico holding torches, creating long luminous trails on the snow.
Spectators were able to watch the show from the recommended viewpoints: the Hotel Bucaneve area in San Valentino and the ski nursery slope in Polsa. The event, with free admission, confirmed its role as a signature event of winter evenings on the Brentonico plateau, in the Monte Baldo Nature Park, in Trentino.
By car: from the A22 Brenner motorway, take the Rovereto Sud exit and drive up towards Brentonico and then to the resorts of Polsa and San Valentino (about 20 km). The nearest train station is Rovereto, on the Verona-Bolzano line, which is connected to the plateau by road services during peak periods.
Every Thursday evening during the ski season, starting at approximately 6:00 PM. Arriving early is recommended to secure a spot at the viewing points.
Free admission for spectators.
