The 10 km non-competitive night run through the hamlets of Dobbiaco
The Toblacher Nachtlauf, or Dobbiaco Night Run, is one of the most beloved sporting events in the municipality of Dobbiaco (Toblach), in the province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. Originally conceived as a simple night walk for summer guests, it has evolved over the years into a proper race that attracts hundreds of participants every summer, including athletes, enthusiasts, and families.
This non-competitive race follows a 10 km course that traverses the various hamlets of Dobbiaco. The start is at the Grand Hotel in Dobbiaco Nuova, home to the Cultural Centre, before winding through Rienza, Paese Vecchio, Nove Case, Santa Maria, and Valle San Silvestro, finally reaching the finish line in the charming square of the historic town centre. The route allows participants to discover the beauty and variety of the Alta Pusteria landscape by the light of torches and stars.
Alongside the main event, the festival features the Kids Run, a shorter 2.4 km course reserved for younger runners, who start a few minutes after the adults and follow a shorter path to the town square. It is a moment designed to involve families and introduce children to sports in a festive and safe environment.
The Dobbiaco Night Run is more than just a race; it is an event that brings the entire town to life on one of the most vibrant evenings of the summer. The finish in the square is accompanied by prize-giving ceremonies, music, and social gatherings, creating a festive atmosphere that engages both residents and tourists. A special prize is awarded to the club and the accommodation facility with the highest number of participants, reflecting the collective spirit that defines the event.
Organised by the Dobbiaco Tourist Association, the event takes place in all weather conditions and includes refreshment and control points along the route, as well as first aid services provided by the White Cross (Croce Bianca).
The 49th edition of the Toblacher Nachtlauf will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, in Dobbiaco. The 10 km non-competitive race starts at 8:30 PM from the Grand Hotel in Dobbiaco Nuova and winds through the municipality's hamlets to the historic town square. The Kids Run, a 2.4 km course for children, begins at 8:35 PM. Prize-giving ceremonies will take place in the square between 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM.
Timing is managed by the Official Timer MySDAM with a chip integrated into the race bib. All participants who reach the finish line by 11:00 PM will receive a souvenir gift. The event will take place regardless of weather conditions.
