Summer evenings in the historic center filled with music, shopping, and gastronomy
The "Thursdays in Carmagnola" have become a highly anticipated summer tradition. Promoted by the Municipality of Carmagnola in collaboration with Ascom Confcommercio and the Department of Events, they bring the historic center to life with a series of midweek evenings that transform streets and squares into a large open-air stage. The goal is twofold: to offer entertainment to residents and visitors while supporting local commerce during the peak of the summer sales season by encouraging evening shop openings.
The program spans five Thursdays, from late June to late July. The main streets of the center—from via Valobra to piazza IV Martiri, passing through the piazza Sant'Agostino area and the Bussone district—host live music, street performances, stalls, and exhibitors. Each evening often features a specific theme, ranging from volunteer association showcases to automotive-themed nights, culminating in a final cultural and literary event.
The soul of the festival is its diverse offering: live music and DJ sets, dancing, street entertainment, markets, artisan stalls, association stands, and culinary proposals curated by local bars, restaurants, and cafes, often featuring special menus. There are also gatherings of vintage cars and motorcycles, which in some editions have added color to the streets with exhibitions and parades.
The "Thursdays" are also designed for families: a dedicated children's area is set up in piazza IV Martiri, featuring inflatables, small rides, ponies, popcorn, and cotton candy, while entertainment and games accompany the evenings. The artistic direction of the festival is entrusted to Tonino Santoru.
Located in the plains south of Turin, in Piedmont, Carmagnola is famous for its Pepper Festival and a historic center rich in porticoes, Baroque churches, and noble palaces. The "Thursdays" are the perfect opportunity to discover the town in its festive summer attire, enjoying evening shopping, good food, and open-air performances. Admission to all evenings is free.
Five evenings enliven the historic center of Carmagnola: we start on Thursday, June 26, in continuity with the Month of Culture, with a cultural and charity-focused evening, featuring themed stalls and volunteer association stands on via Valobra. This is followed by the events on July 2, 9, 16, and 23.
As per tradition, the evenings offer a mix of music, dancing, entertainment, markets, children's games, culinary proposals, and initiatives by local merchants during the peak of the summer sales. The artistic direction is entrusted to Tonino Santoru. Admission is free.
