The grand finale of the Giallocomiche series featuring Commissioner Pautasso at the Teatro Lux in Scarnafigi
The Teatro Lux in Scarnafigi, in the province of Cuneo, hosts "The Mystery of the Anchovies in Green Sauce", the final episode of the celebrated Giallocomiche of Commissioner Agenore Pautasso, produced and performed by the Turin-based company L'Opera Rinata. After a long season marked by sold-out shows across Turin and its province—from Mazzè to Borgaro, from Bosconero to Valperga, and even Buriasco—the saga bids farewell to its audience with a grand finale set in this small town in the Saluzzo area.
Created in 2014 by Valter Carignano and Marina Di Paola, the Giallocomiche format combines the structure of a classic whodunit—in the vein of Agatha Christie and Conan Doyle—with the verve of Piedmontese comic tradition, in a show that shifts from script to improvisation with the rhythm and inventiveness of commedia dell'arte. Over more than a decade of activity, Commissioner Pautasso has become a true phenomenon of local popular theater, with hundreds of performances and over sixty different, irresistible "cases."
In this latest adventure, Commissioner Agenore Pautasso finds himself dealing with a case as absurd as it is irresistible: the mysterious disappearance of barrels of anchovies from Turin's traditional piole (taverns). At the heart of the investigation is "L'Oca Canterina," the last establishment in the Porta Palazzo district that still serves traditional anchovies in green sauce. Between narrative tension and continuous laughter, the audience is invited to unmask the culprit before the final scene, immersed in an investigation where nothing is as it seems and local flavor blends with the thrill of mystery.
On stage are the actors of the L'Opera Rinata company, including Valter Carignano, Marina Di Paola, Massimiliano Scelsi, Angela Vuolo, and Roberta Wildmann. This Turin-based group, active in producing shows and creative writing, has built an eagerly awaited and beloved appointment for the Piedmontese public around the character of Pautasso.
An opportunity to experience Piedmontese popular theater in its most genuine form, in an evening that weaves together gastronomy, tradition, and entertainment in the heart of the Cuneo province.
