Four days of lavender, lotus flowers, and the Massaciuccoli Lake in the green heart of Versilia
The Flower Festival along The Herb and Flower Trail is a widespread event that, over two weekends in late June, transforms the entire Massarosa district in the province of Lucca into a grand experiential journey through nature, agriculture, and landscape. Tucked between the Lucca hills, the Versilia coast, and Lake Massaciuccoli, the territory reveals itself through its most spectacular blooms: lavender fields in full flower, lotus blossoms on the water's surface, medicinal herbs, aromatic and tropical plants, olive groves, and vineyards.
The heart of the event lies in the farms and gardens that open their doors to visitors, each with its own schedule and unique experiences:
The program offers guided walking and cycling tours, meeting early in the morning, along with a series of experiences linked to the environmental system of Lake Massaciuccoli, the natural soul of the event: excursions, outdoor activities, and dragon boat outings. Among the 2026 highlights is the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated Lotus Flower cycle-pedestrian path, with an official event at the viewpoint on the opening day, Saturday, June 20.
The food and wine experience is not to be missed: Cantine Tenuta Mariani offers tastings and dinners in the vineyard, while the gastronomic corner at Il Giardino di Manipura serves sandwiches, focaccia, herbal infusions, and craft beer. Tastings of local products accompany the entire route, showcasing the agricultural excellence of Versilia.
Organized by the Associazione Versilia Verdelago APS, the Flower Festival reaffirms Massarosa's commitment to slow and sustainable tourism, blending agricultural landscapes, rural culture, and environmental appreciation. The itinerary remains free, accessible, and flexible: every visitor can choose their own paths, experiences, and stops at their own pace, immersing themselves in the colors and scents of the Tuscan countryside.
The 2026 edition, the sixth, confirms the formula of a widespread itinerary through lavender, lotus flowers, medicinal herbs, olive groves, and vineyards, with Lake Massaciuccoli as the natural heart of the event.
Guided walking and cycling tours meeting at 8:30 AM, dragon boat outings on Lake Massaciuccoli (Sunday, departure at 10:00 AM from Villa Ginori La Piaggetta), and tastings and dinners in the vineyard at Cantine Tenuta Mariani.
