Summer at high altitude with nature, games, and local flavors at Malga Preghena di Sopra
Temptation Mountain is a series of summer events that brings both adults and children to Malga Preghena di Sopra, a stunning alpine dairy farm nestled at an altitude of 1,925 meters in a sunny basin of the Maddalene group, overlooking Monte Pin. We are in the territory of the Municipality of Livo, in Val di Non (Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige), at the entrance to the Val di Bresimo: an authentic corner of the Trentino mountains where alpine life blends with the warm hospitality of the locals.
The festival, promoted by the Pro Loco Livo APS in collaboration with the Municipality of Livo, balances moments designed for families with activities for hiking enthusiasts. The common thread remains the same: experiencing the mountains in a slow and mindful way, amidst meadows, forests, and the genuine flavors of the alpine pasture.
The family-run alpine farm is famous for its homemade cheeses, butter, ricotta, and jams, as well as its mountain cuisine: cured meats, tortel di patate, polenta with stew, sausages, and melted cheese. Around the structure, there is a small picnic area with a pond, while the panorama sweeps across the peaks of the Maddalene. It can be reached by car from the village of Preghena, at the entrance to the Val di Bresimo.
Livo is one of the oldest villages in the Val di Non, situated at 741 meters on the Mezzalone plateau between the Pescara and Barnes streams, and includes the hamlets of Varollo, Preghena, and Scanna. The village preserves historical treasures such as the Romanesque church of San Martino with 15th-century frescoes and various historic residences. Temptation Mountain represents an opportunity to discover this authentic territory, far from the main tourist flows, and to experience the Trentino mountains in their most genuine dimension.
The 2026 edition brought Malga Preghena di Sopra (1,925 m) to life with a calendar of events spread across early July. On July 1st, there was space for workshops and games for children and teenagers in the natural setting of the alpine farm; on July 3rd and 4th, a high-altitude evening was designed for those who love nature, science, and typical flavors, featuring an excursion and the traditional bonfire. An opportunity to experience the Maddalene alpine pastures amidst conviviality and scenery, organized by the Pro Loco Livo APS with the Municipality of Livo.
