The first theatre season in Cantalupa, Val Noce
The Teatro Silvia Coassolo Season marks a historic milestone for Cantalupa, a small town in the Val Noce area near Turin, nestled at the foot of the Piedmont valleys. For the first time since its construction, the modern multi-purpose space named after Silvia Coassolo transforms into a fully-fledged theatre, with a comprehensive programme spanning autumn, winter, and spring.
The project, managed by the Mulino ad Arte APS association, is rooted in a spirit of community: the three Val Noce municipalities — Cantalupa, Frossasco, and Roletto — have chosen to invest together to make the theatre a shared asset for the entire region. The slogan accompanying this inaugural edition, « a teatro il futuro si vede prima » (at the theatre, you see the future first), perfectly captures the ambition of bringing major Italian stage productions to a village on the outskirts of the Turin metropolitan area.
The schedule is divided into two distinct yet complementary series:
These are complemented by original productions by Mulino ad Arte, focusing on themes of sustainability, our relationship with nature, and the future of new generations.
The adult programme has brought some of the most beloved faces of Italian theatre to Cantalupa: Matthias Martelli with Dario Fo's Mistero Buffo and Tullio Solenghi with his Decameron. Un racconto italiano in tempo di peste, directed by Sergio Maifredi. The lineup also included science communicator Adrian Fartade with Strizzare l'universo, alongside numerous comedy, narrative, and musical performances. The family series featured timeless tales such as Beauty and the Beast, Colapesce, and Snow White, the latter of which closed the season.
More than just a theatre programme, the Teatro Silvia Coassolo Season is a sign of a community that believes in culture as a tool for social cohesion. For those living in the Pinerolo area or visiting the Piedmont valleys, it is a unique opportunity to enjoy national-level performances without travelling to Turin, all within an intimate and welcoming venue where the audience and artists truly connect.
The inaugural season of the Teatro Silvia Coassolo in Cantalupa, curated by Mulino ad Arte, ran throughout the theatrical year until spring 2026. A broad programme that alternated between the adult and family series, featuring original productions dedicated to sustainability and the future.
Among the highlights were Dario Fo's Mistero Buffo performed by Matthias Martelli (December 12, 2025), Tullio Solenghi's Decameron directed by Sergio Maifredi (April 17, 2026), and the musical fairy tale Snow White by the I Guardiani dell'Oca company (April 19, 2026), which closed the season.
The shows Archimede and Il grande giorno were cancelled.
