The tenth theatre season featuring contemporary drama, stand-up comedy, and family shows in Messina
The Teatro dei 3 Mestieri is one of the most vibrant venues on the theatrical scene in Messina and the entire north-eastern Sicily. Born from the association of the same name, the space on the Statale 114 (at km 5.600) has grown into a key landmark for the local audience. In 2026, the theatre celebrates a major milestone: its tenth theatre season, significantly titled '10'—a number that speaks of perseverance, passion, and a deep-rooted bond with the community.
The season's schedule explores diverse genres and styles: contemporary drama, original plays, stand-up comedy, social theatre, and shows designed for families. Nine main events, spread across weekends from January to May, create a journey that alternates between great classics, modern writing, and new productions signed by the company itself.
Alongside the evening programme, the theatre pays great attention to younger audiences with a section for children and families. This includes Storie di pezza, the La fabbrica dei pupazzi workshop, Il conte che non conta, and the new production Mata e Grifone, inspired by the famous Giants, an iconic symbol of the city of Messina.
The season is led by artistic director Stefano Cutrupi, supported by administrative manager Angelo Di Mattia. The project combines the promotion of Sicilian companies and playwrights with an open eye towards the national scene, offering the public of the Metropolitan City of Messina a high-quality, accessible programme capable of reaching a wide audience, from drama enthusiasts to families with children.
The 2026 season celebrated ten years of the Teatro dei 3 Mestieri in Messina with a programme spread across weekends from January to May. The opening, on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January, featured Mari by Tino Caspanello, with Cinzia Muscolino and Caspanello himself on stage.
