The zero-impact concert powered by the audience, held at the Chiosco delle Verne
At the Chiosco delle Verne in Villafranca d'Asti, nestled in the heart of the Monferrato hills in the province of Asti, an event combining live music and environmental sustainability comes to life. The star is singer-songwriter Elena Mil, performing a zero-impact concert thanks to the Teatro a Pedali format: not just an ordinary live show, but a participatory experience where the audience itself generates the energy needed for the performance.
The secret lies in special bicycles connected to a co-generation and electrical storage system: by pedaling before and during the concert, spectators produce the energy that powers the stage's audio and lighting. A display shows the generated current in real-time, turning every person into an active protagonist and raising awareness about sustainability. The project was created and is toured throughout Piedmont by the Mulino ad Arte company, with the support of Compagnia di San Paolo and the Funder35 grant from Fondazione Cariplo.
The concert is the highlight of a day designed to combine wellness, the environment, and music in nature. The program includes a free Biodanza session led by Lorena Olivieri, an ecological walk organized by the APS Camminare Lentamente, a merenda sinoira featuring local products, and, to close, Elena Mil's performance powered by Teatro a Pedali.
This event stems from the collaboration between Teatro a Pedali and Borgate dal Vivo, the festival that brings music, theater, and stories to the smallest towns in Piedmont, between the provinces of Turin and Cuneo. Pedal-powered shows have frequently been featured in past editions of the festival, which reciprocates by hosting this green concert in the Asti area: a symbolic gesture that reinforces the idea of a widespread, light, and environmentally conscious culture.
Among the hills of Villafranca d'Asti, the Teatro a Pedali formula is particularly suitable for families, children, and anyone who wants to experience music in a different way. The energy of the pedaling, the snack with local flavors, and the relaxed atmosphere of the Chiosco delle Verne make this evening a small manifesto of sustainability applied to live performance.
The program for Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Chiosco delle Verne begins at 5:00 PM with a free Biodanza session led by Lorena Olivieri, continues at 6:00 PM with the ecological walk by APS Camminare Lentamente, and at 7:30 PM with a merenda sinoira in nature. At 8:30 PM, the highlight: the zero-impact concert by Elena Mil, powered by the audience's pedaling thanks to the Teatro a Pedali format, in collaboration with Borgate dal Vivo.
Elena Mil's concert is powered entirely by energy produced by the audience pedaling on bicycles connected to a storage system: a participatory and sustainable live show, hosted by Borgate dal Vivo.
