About Teatro a Pedali

The Teatro a Pedali Festival arrives in Moiola, in the province of Cuneo: Italy's only eco-sustainable theatre festival where the audience produces the energy needed to power the stage lights and sound system by pedaling on specially designed bicycles. On July 30, 2026, the show "Pedaling Through Stories" takes the stage, an itinerant theatrical performance by Daniele Ronco that gathers the memories and voices of the Cuneo valley communities. Free admission, outdoors, for the whole family.

A theatre festival that runs on pedals

The Teatro a Pedali Festival is the only eco-sustainable theatre festival in Italy where the audience is not just a spectator: they are the very source of energy for the show. Attendees pedal on specially designed bicycles connected to a cogeneration system, producing electricity in real-time to power the lights and sound system. A display shows the energy generated, turning every performance into a participatory and sustainable experience. Created by actor and director Daniele Ronco and produced by the Mulino ad Arte company, the festival brings theatre to small villages, combining culture, community, and soft mobility.

Moiola and the July 30, 2026 stop

The Municipality of Moiola, a small village in the Stura Valley in the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont, hosts one of the stops of the festival's seventh edition. On Wednesday, July 30, 2026, "Pedaling Through Stories" will be performed, an itinerant show that gives voice to the communities of the Cuneo valleys.

"Pedaling Through Stories"

"Pedaling Through Stories" is a unique theatrical project: before each performance, Daniele Ronco collects stories, memories, testimonies, and anecdotes from local residents, then brings them back to the stage in a unique show that differs for every village. The work evokes the Piedmontese tradition of the vià (or vijà), the evening gatherings where mountain communities would meet to share tales, memories, and small manual tasks. A simple and warm event, designed for families, that celebrates the territory and collective memory.

An itinerant network across six regions

The seventh edition in 2026 runs from May 11 to September 27 with nearly 60 live performances, including four international events, spread across six Italian regions: Piedmont, Lombardy, Aosta Valley, Trentino-Alto Adige, Emilia-Romagna, and Puglia. In the Cuneo area alone, the festival reaches numerous village valleys, from Bagnolo Piemonte to Sampeyre, from Acce, from Acceglio to Boves and Pontechianale, with Moiola and Venasca taking the stage on July 30.

Culture, sustainability, and community

More than just a schedule of shows, Teatro a Pedali is a cultural experience that weaves together theatre, music, scientific outreach, and cycle tourism. Sustainability is told through stories, bodies, landscapes, encounters, and shared pedaling: an original way to experience live performance in the marginal territories of the Piedmontese mountains, restoring centrality to small municipalities.

Teatro a Pedali — edition 2026

The Moiola stop of the seventh edition of the Teatro a Pedali Festival takes place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, with the show "Pedaling Through Stories" by Daniele Ronco. As per the festival format, the audience pedals on special bicycles to produce the energy that powers the lights and sound. Free admission, outdoors, for all families.

The 2026 Moiola stop

On July 30, 2026, the Teatro a Pedali Festival stops in Moiola, in the Stura Valley, with "Pedaling Through Stories". On the same day, the festival is also performed in Venasca. The show, conceived and conducted by Daniele Ronco for Mulino ad Arte, collects the memories of local inhabitants and brings them back to the stage, evoking the tradition of the vià. The scene comes to life thanks to the energy produced by the audience pedaling.
