Accademie in Valle: music arrives in Limone Piemonte

Every summer, the municipality of Limone Piemonte, in the province of Cuneo, joins the widespread program of Accademie in Valle, the travelling music festival that has been enlivening the villages and valleys of south-western Piedmont since 2008. The event was born with the aim of bringing high-quality music and performances to the mountain centres of the Cuneo area. Under the artistic direction of Angelo Vinai, it offers a program ranging from chamber music to opera, jazz, singer-songwriter music, and musical fairy tales designed for families.

Teatro Alla Confraternita and the Church of San Pietro: stages among the mountains

In Limone Piemonte, the gateway to the Vermenagna Valley and an alpine resort at the foot of the Colle di Tenda, concerts find a home primarily in the intimate Teatro Alla Confraternita and, for sacred and chamber music programs, in the San Pietro parish church. Here, live music engages with the evening atmosphere of a mountain village, in evenings designed for a curious and passionate audience. Limone is one of the stops on a tour that also visits other municipalities in the Cuneo valleys during the summer, including Chiusa di Pesio, Entracque, Vernante, and Demonte, transforming the mountains into a vast natural stage.

From chamber music and opera to musical fairy tales

Over the years, the festival has brought high-quality ensembles and soloists to Limone Piemonte, with a special focus on chamber music and projects aimed at younger audiences. The 2025 edition offered three highly appreciated events in Limone: the "Zephyr" concert with young musicians from the Zephyr International Chamber Music Festival in the Church of San Pietro, the musical fairy tale "Peter and the Wolf" by Prokofiev with the Quintetto Prestige of the Teatro Regio di Torino, and the opera recital "L'opera in salotto" by the Trio Opera Viwa, all with free admission.

An event for the Vermenagna Valley area

Accademie in Valle is supported by local entities such as banking foundations and the involved municipalities, confirming the festival's deep roots in the cultural life of the valleys and the entire province of Cuneo. For the public, it is also an opportunity to discover Limone Piemonte and the upper Vermenagna Valley, a corner of Piedmont famous for its ski slopes, summer hiking trails, and its historical ties with the nearby French border.
