The festival of the white truffle of the Bolognese Apennines in Piazza Kennedy
The Tartufesta in Camugnano is one of the most cherished autumn events in the Bolognese Apennines. Every year, in early November, the small village in the Municipality of Camugnano, in the Province of Bologna (Emilia-Romagna), transforms to celebrate the absolute star of the season: the prized white truffle of the Bolognese hills. For an entire day, Piazza Kennedy and the village streets are filled with a whirlwind of autumn colors and forest scents, with stalls, tastings, and activities designed for the whole family.
The Camugnano event is part of the Tartufesta, the large, widespread festival promoted by the Metropolitan City of Bologna which, between October and November, involves ten municipalities in the Apennines: in addition to Camugnano, Savigno di Valsamoggia, Grizzana Morandi, Lizzano in Belvedere, Loiano, Monghidoro, Monzuno, Pianoro, Sasso Marconi, and San Benedetto Val di Sambro participate. Each municipality dedicates a day to truffles, enhancing the landscape, culture, and gastronomy of the Bolognese mountains. It's a perfect opportunity to discover an authentic territory and its excellent products.
The heart of the festival is the prized white truffle, harvested in the Apennine woods and the star of special menus at the stalls and in some local restaurants. Around this product, there are tastings by producers, markets, exhibitions, truffle dog competitions, and guided excursions to discover the woods and search techniques. Visiting the Tartufesta in Camugnano means experiencing firsthand a food and wine tradition that has linked these communities to their mountains for centuries.
The 2026 edition of the Tartufesta in Camugnano is part of the calendar of the widespread event of the Bolognese Apennines, scheduled between October 17 and November 8, 2026, and promoted by the Metropolitan City of Bologna. The day dedicated to Camugnano is expected on November 1, 2026, with the usual program of food stalls, a market of typical mountain products, guided walks, and entertainment in Piazza Kennedy.
