About Tartufesta

Every autumn, Sasso Marconi, in the Bolognese Apennines, celebrates the prized white truffle of its hills with Tartufesta. For two weekends between October and November, the historic center and Piazza dei Martiri are transformed into the "Piazza del Gusto" (Square of Taste): a truffle market exhibition, food stalls, typical autumn products (chestnuts, mushrooms, cheeses, honey, wine, and extra virgin olive oil), truffle dog competitions, guided excursions, and lots of entertainment. One of the most beloved festivals in the Bologna area.

The festival of the white truffle of Sasso Marconi

Tartufesta is the autumn event that every year transforms Sasso Marconi, in the heart of the Bolognese Apennines (Metropolitan City of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna), into the capital of the prized white truffle of the Colli Bolognesi. For two weekends between October and November, the historic center and the large Piazza dei Martiri become the "Piazza del Gusto", enlivened by thousands of visitors drawn by the unmistakable aroma of truffle.

The truffle, undisputed king

The absolute protagonist is the white truffle, an excellence of this hilly territory. Along the streets of the center, you'll find producers' stalls where you can admire and purchase it, while the food stalls and restaurants in the town offer special truffle-based menus. Alongside the king of the festival, Tartufesta is a showcase of all the typical products of the Apennine autumn: chestnuts, mushrooms, cheeses, cured meats, honey, mountain sweets, wine, and extra virgin olive oil from the hills of Sasso.

Not just gastronomy

The event is much more than a food and wine festival. The program includes truffle dog competitions, a farmers' market and a market for crafts and upcycled goods, tastings, and courses organized by producers, but also guided excursions to discover the territory (the 18th-century village of Colle Ameno, the Marconi Museum, the San Gherardo Natural Oasis), walks, musical entertainment, and activities for children. The squares, the streets of the center, the shopping arcades, and the municipal halls host stalls of typical products, new gastronomic offerings from other regions, and stands of local associations.

Getting around: the Tartushuttle

For the festival days, the Tartushuttle is active, a free shuttle service that connects the parking lots, the train station, and the center of Sasso Marconi, allowing easy access to the heart of the event without parking problems.

An unmissable event in Emilia-Romagna

With almost thirty years of history, the Tartufesta of Sasso Marconi is one of the best-known truffle festivals in Emilia-Romagna and is part of the "Tartufesta" network spread across the municipalities of the Bolognese Apennines. For those who love quality food and wine and the Apennine autumn, it is an unmissable stop just a few kilometers from Bologna.
