The historic festival of music, art, and brass band sounds in Ruvo di Puglia
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Talos Festival is one of the most iconic cultural events in Apulia. Originating in Ruvo di Puglia, in the province of Bari, over three decades ago, it was built around a clear vision: to celebrate the sound of Apulian brass bands and foster a dialogue with contemporary music, jazz, improvisation, and dance. It is through this cultural commitment that the festival has built its reputation, becoming a highly anticipated end-of-summer appointment.
Talos is more than just a concert series; it is a multidisciplinary artistic project where traditional brass band music meets cutting-edge sound research. Every year, the stage in Piazza Matteotti and various spots throughout the historic center host nationally and internationally renowned musicians, original contemporary dance projects, performances, and improvisation sessions. The Banda Talos, the festival's signature ensemble, remains the common thread linking the different editions.
The town of Ruvo di Puglia, also famous for its archaeological heritage and ancient ceramics, provides an ideal backdrop for the festival: the squares, cloisters, and courtyards of the historic center become natural stages. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia and organized in collaboration with Bass Culture srl, with co-financing from the Apulia Region in agreement with Puglia Culture.
One of the hallmarks of the Talos Festival is its popular and inclusive nature: all shows are free to attend. It is a festival designed for the community, capable of filling the squares and attracting diverse audiences, from jazz aficionados to families, and fans of dance and folk traditions. It is a way to experience the most authentic side of Apulia, blending artistic experimentation with collective memory.
The 2026 edition of the Talos Festival in Ruvo di Puglia has not yet been officially announced. Based on previous editions, the festival is traditionally held in September in Piazza Matteotti and the spaces of the historic center, with free admission.
The detailed program, including artists, times, and locations, will be published by the organizers (Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia and Bass Culture srl) in the weeks leading up to the event. This page will be updated as soon as official information becomes available.
The heart of the festival is Piazza Matteotti, in the center of Ruvo di Puglia (BA); some events take place in the Atrium of the Book Museum / House of Culture and in the Cloister of the former Dominican convent.
