The international festival of choral, symphonic, operatic, and jazz music in Ruvo di Puglia
The Ruvo Coro Festival is one of the most established musical events in the Metropolitan City of Bari, Puglia. Born from the work of the «Michele Cantatore» Polyphonic Choral Association, the festival has transformed the historic center of Ruvo di Puglia over the years into a cultural laboratory where choral singing engages with symphonic music, opera, jazz, and singer-songwriter classics. Under the artistic direction of Maestro Angelo Anselmi, each edition brings orchestras, choirs, brass ensembles, and renowned soloists to the stage, creating a journey that blends artistic excellence with a strong sense of local identity.
The festival is divided into two distinct parts. In winter, the «Musical Salons» offer an intimate listening experience at the «Michele Cantatore» Concert Hall on Via Giordano Bruno: cozy, engaging events dedicated to the voice and song. In summer, the festival moves outdoors between July and August, when concerts bring the city to life with symphonic orchestras, tributes to great pop and rock icons, opera galas, and jazz reinterpretations of the Italian songbook.
The seventeenth edition kicked off in February 2026 with the «Musical Salons» and culminates in the summer season, scheduled from July 18 to August 9, 2026. Six evenings, all starting at 8:30 PM, will take place between the Cathedral square and Piazzetta Le Monache: ranging from the inaugural concert «1000 Voices to Remember» with the Federiciana Symphonic Orchestra, to grand symphonic events with the Orchestra Città di Andria and the Metropolitan City of Bari Symphonic Orchestra, ending with the «Opera Gala under the Stars» on August 8 and the grand finale on August 9 with the Dino Plasmati Band and «Italian Jazz Songwriter Classics».
The strength of the Ruvo Coro Festival also lies in its choice of locations. The Cathedral square, a jewel of Apulian Romanesque architecture, provides a monumental setting for symphonic and operatic evenings, while the intimate Piazzetta Le Monache hosts more refined and brilliant concerts. Music thus enters into a direct dialogue with the historical and architectural heritage of Ruvo di Puglia, offering the audience an experience where sound and urban landscape merge.
The festival is promoted by the «Michele Cantatore» Polyphonic Choral Association of the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia, under the artistic direction of Maestro Angelo Anselmi. The event is made possible with the support of the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia, the Puglia Region, the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, and the Bari Chamber of Commerce, confirming the festival's role as a key cultural landmark for the community and the entire Bari metropolitan area.
The 2026 edition confirms the dual nature of the festival. In winter, the «Musical Salons» featured three events at the «Michele Cantatore» Concert Hall (February 1, 8, and 15, 2026), dedicated to the voice and song. In summer, the festival returns outdoors from July 18 to August 9, 2026, in Ruvo di Puglia.
The summer program alternates grand symphonic evenings in the Cathedral square with more intimate concerts in Piazzetta Le Monache, with a repertoire ranging from symphonic music to opera, and from tributes to Italian songwriters to jazz. A journey that renews the festival's vocation: to bring great live music into dialogue with the city's historical and architectural heritage, in the heart of Puglia.
Ruvo di Puglia can be reached by car via the SS 98 and the A14 motorway (Molfetta or Bari Nord exits). By train, it is served by the Ferrotramviaria Bari-Barletta line, with a station just a short walk from the historic center. The nearest airports are Bari Karol Wojtyła and Foggia.
Summer concerts take place in the Cathedral square and Piazzetta Le Monache, starting at 8:30 PM. The winter «Musical Salons» are held at the «Michele Cantatore» Concert Hall on Via Giordano Bruno.
Summer evenings are traditionally free to attend. For information and reservations: tel. +39 345 174 2214, «Michele Cantatore» Polyphonic Choral Association.
