Secolare Seeds at Castel del Monte is the Andria stage of Secolare Seeds, the series of previews leading up to the Secolare Festival, a musical discovery event that brings the Alta Murgia National Park to life every summer. The event takes place in the Municipality of Andria, in the Province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, in the heart of Puglia, at one of the region's most iconic locations: the plain stretching out at the foot of Castel del Monte, the octagonal castle commissioned by Frederick II and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The performance by Silvio Annese

The evening features Silvio Annese, a musician and composer whose research focuses on percussive gestures, repetition, and timbral sound exploration. His work sits at the intersection of contemporary music, electronics, and improvisation, which is the hallmark of the entire Secolare project: not just a concert, but a listening experience designed to engage with the surrounding landscape.

Trekking, wine, and local culture

Secolare Seeds is about more than just music. The day in Andria weaves together listening with a slow discovery of the Murgia landscape:

• Trekking route toward Castel del Monte starting at 5:00 PM (booking recommended);
• Wine spot featuring a selection of local wines to accompany the performance;
• Open-air setting at the Castel del Monte Infopoint, the gateway to the monumental site.

It is a way to experience the Alta Murgia consciously, blending musical culture, nature, and local flavors.

Inside the Secolare project

The Secolare Seeds previews take place between late June and mid-July 2026 in various municipalities across the Terra di Bari and BAT areas — from Terlizzi to Ruvo di Puglia and Andria — acting as a cultural sowing that prepares for the new edition of the festival, scheduled from August 6 to 9, 2026, at the Agriturismo San Giuseppe in Corato, at the gates of the Alta Murgia National Park. The Andria stop, with its free admission, is the most open and accessible of the series.

Organization

The event is promoted by Spore Società Cooperativa Impresa Sociale, in collaboration with G.A.L. Castel del Monte and Slow Murgia, and is part of the R*estate ad Andria 2026 summer program promoted by the City of Andria. The Secolare project is also supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Puglia Region.
