Two weekends dedicated to the king of Roman fried snacks at Eataly Rome Ostiense
The Supplì & Roman Fried Food Festival is the event that, every February, transforms the spaces of Eataly Rome Ostiense into the capital of the most delicious street food in the Eternal City. For two consecutive weekends, the large store at Piazzale XII Ottobre 1492 pays homage to the king of Roman fried snacks, the supplì, and the entire tradition of frying that defines the popular and convivial soul of Rome. An event created to celebrate an timeless classic of Roman cuisine and bring it to the center stage, through both historical recipes and gourmet reinterpretations.
The absolute star is the supplì, a breaded and fried rice croquette, served strictly "al telefono" (on the phone) when the mozzarella core stretches with every bite. Alongside it, the entire repertoire of Roman frying takes the stage: cod fillets, zucchini flowers in batter, fried artichokes, meatballs and croquettes, vegetable and fish specialties, and even fried desserts like castagnole. There are options for everyone, including gluten-free and lactose-free versions.
The festival brings together some of the most appreciated names in the Roman gastronomic scene. Past participants include Antitesi, with their classic supplì made with San Marzano DOP tomatoes and sausage ragù, alongside creative versions like pumpkin and guanciale or the "Kubik" with 'nduja; Supplì Bros, with gourmet proposals featuring Roman broccoli and the bucatini carbonara fritter; Forno Roscioli Esquilino, with supplì and desserts like castagnole; as well as Santì, 5&28, Cimarra 4, and the Eataly kitchen. To complete the experience, there are craft beers from the Birrificio Agricolo Mosto Italiano, signature cocktails, and a selection of wines and coffee at the bar.
Taste meets fun: during the festival evenings and afternoons, DJ sets featuring disco, soul, and groove selections enliven the Eataly spaces, turning the tasting experience into a true urban party perfect for families, friends, and food lovers.
Entry is free and open to all. Tastings are purchased using tokens at dedicated cash registers, a practical system that allows you to freely compose your own tasting journey among the various stands, with special promotions for those who want to sample multiple specialties.
Set in the lively Ostiense district, one of the most dynamic areas of Rome, in the Lazio region, the Supplì & Roman Fried Food Festival is much more than a gastronomic event: it is a way to rediscover a popular heritage that belongs to the city's identity. In Rome, fried food is street culture, family memory, and shared pleasure. Easily accessible via the Metro B line (Piramide stop), the event has become a highly anticipated date on the capital's winter calendar.
