The event revives the historic Roman Ottobrate, the celebrations that, since the 17th century, marked the end of the grape harvest with moments of conviviality and joy. Among the most popular destinations for Romans at the time was the area of modern-day Testaccio, famous for its 'wine caves': cavities carved into the artificial Monte dei Cocci that, thanks to their constant temperature, provided ideal conditions for storing wine. It is from this oenological and popular memory that the festival draws its name and identity.

The day alternates between activities for all ages. The morning is dedicated to street games and sports activities for children and teenagers curated by local groups; the afternoon features performances, folk dances, book presentations, and poetry readings in the Roman dialect as part of the 'Testaccio in Rima' festival.
