Every September, the Rome Oktoberfest brings the convivial spirit of the famous Munich festival to Testaccio, one of the capital's most authentic and vibrant neighborhoods. The event takes place in the evocative setting of the Città dell'Altra Economia, within the former Testaccio slaughterhouse, which transforms for four days into a massive open-air beer garden covering over 4,000 square meters. The six historic Munich breweries

The heart of the event is, naturally, the beer: the six historic Munich breweries—Hofbräuhaus, Paulaner, Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Löwenbräu, and Spaten—are all present, bringing their special labels to Rome, served in the classic and essential one-liter stein. Across the various bar stations set up in the beer garden, visitors can sample dozens of different beers, from light to dark, in a tasting journey that faithfully reproduces the spirit of the German Oktoberfest.

Bavarian gastronomy

Accompanying the steins is a selection of typical Bavarian cuisine: pork knuckle with sauerkraut and potatoes, bratwurst, wiener schnitzel, large freshly baked pretzels, and various vegetarian and vegan options. The food stalls are designed to offer a complete experience, blending hearty flavors and conviviality in the spirit of the best German traditions, reinterpreted for the Roman public.

Music, folklore, and entertainment

The days are enlivened by folk performances, with Bavarian bands in traditional costume leading collective toasts, continuing into the evening with live music and DJ sets.
