High-altitude concert at the Biamondo Sanctuary, in the heart of Valle Maira
The Suoni dal Monviso festival stops in Marmora, a village of just over a hundred inhabitants nestled at an altitude of 1,223 meters in a side valley of the Valle Maira, in the province of Cuneo (Piedmont). On Sunday, July 12, 2026, the Madonna del Biamondo Sanctuary, accessible from the Vernetti hamlet, will host one of the ten events of the festival's twenty-second edition: a concert designed to engage with the surrounding alpine landscape.
The star of the day is the Briccialdi Wind Quintet, an ensemble linked to the Saluzzo School of Advanced Musical Studies, presenting the program titled «On the Slopes of Valle Maira». The choice of a wind quintet—flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon—blends perfectly with the intimate acoustics of the mountain sanctuary and the natural setting that characterizes all the high-altitude stops of the festival.
Suoni dal Monviso is a widespread festival conceived and organized by the Associazione I Polifonici del Marchesato, which for over two decades has intertwined artistic quality, local roots, and environmental awareness. The 2026 edition spans approximately six months and offers ten events in eight municipalities across four valleys in the Cuneo area, with a common theme dedicated to the four natural elements—air, water, earth, and fire. Environmental sustainability, accessibility, and youth engagement are the values that guide the entire program.
The Marmora stage perfectly represents the soul of Suoni dal Monviso: bringing great music to the most authentic places of the Piedmontese mountains, where the silence of the valleys becomes an integral part of the listening experience.
The 2026 edition of Suoni dal Monviso, the twenty-second, consists of ten events between June and November, in eight municipalities and four valleys of the Cuneo area, with a journey inspired by the four natural elements—air, water, earth, and fire. The Marmora stage is one of the festival's high-altitude chamber music moments.
The concert is part of the widespread program that brings music to the territory's iconic places, from alpine sanctuaries to the squares of valley municipalities.
The Marmora stage is part of the 2026 Suoni dal Monviso program, which includes concerts by Francesca Michielin (July 5, Paesana) and Arisa (July 19, Sampeyre), as well as the closing concert by the Polifonici del Marchesato (September 27) for the choir's fortieth anniversary.
