The street artists festival in Candela, in the heart of the Capitanata region
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of the Capitanata, at the crossroads of Puglia, Campania, and Basilicata, the village of Candela (Province of Foggia) becomes a vast open-air stage for a weekend in late September. This is the setting for Stritt Street, the Street Artists Festival that fills the squares, alleys, and open spaces of the historic center with juggling, acrobatics, music, and wonder.
The festival's name is a playful linguistic nod to its roots: it combines the local Candela dialect term «stritt», used to describe the village's narrow alleys, with the English word «street». It serves as a bridge between local tradition and the international street art scene, which has brought talented performers from Puglia, across Italy, and abroad to Candela over the years.
For two days, the village is filled with jugglers, acrobats, clowns, musicians, and performers who showcase their talents along a route winding through the town center. The audience wanders from square to square, captivated by contemporary circus acts, comedy, live music, and interactive installations. All performances are free and suitable for all ages, creating a festive atmosphere that delights families, children, and curious visitors from neighboring towns.
Stritt Street is more than just an entertainment event: it is part of a broader initiative led by Mayor Nicola Gatta to promote off-season tourism and enhance the village's heritage beyond the summer months. The event is supported by funds from the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) and the Ministry of Culture, with artistic direction curated in collaboration with the Compagnia Tre di Danè.
Dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced. Following the tradition of previous years, all held in mid-September, the festival is expected to return to Candela during the same window. As soon as the official calendar is released, we will update this page with the full program, schedule, and artist lineup.
The dates for the 2026 edition of Stritt Street have not yet been made official. Based on past editions — all held during the second weekend of September — it is likely that the festival will return to enliven the streets of Candela during the same period, featuring juggling, acrobatics, music, and free street performances.
The full program, including schedules, venues, and artist names, will be published by the Municipality of Candela and the artistic direction in the weeks preceding the event. We will update this page as soon as information becomes available.
Candela is located in the Province of Foggia, near the A16 Naples–Canosa motorway junction (Candela exit) and the intersection with the A14; it is easily accessible by car from Puglia, Campania, and Basilicata. During the festival, all performances take place within the pedestrian-only historic center.
All performances are free of charge.
The event usually takes place in mid-September, spanning two days (Saturday and Sunday).
