The protagonists of the Strega Prize on the stage of the Galli Theatre
StregaTour is the national circuit of meetings that accompanies the Strega Prize, the most important and prestigious Italian literary award, through theatres, libraries, and cultural spaces throughout Italy. Founded in 1947 on the initiative of Maria and Goffredo Bellonci, the prize celebrates the best of contemporary Italian fiction every year, and its caravan of authors visits dozens of cities across the peninsula before the winner is announced.
In Rimini, in the heart of Romagna in Emilia-Romagna, the stop takes place on the stage of the Amintore Galli Theatre, a neoclassical gem overlooking Piazza Cavour, returned to the city after a long restoration. The event is organized by the Gambalunga Civic Library and the Municipality of Rimini, in collaboration with the Bellonci Foundation, and has now established itself as one of the most anticipated events in the city's cultural calendar.
The format is simple and engaging: the authors competing, finalists or candidates for the prize, take the stage to interact with the public, read excerpts from their novels, and share their writing process and perspectives on the present. The conversation, entrusted each time to journalists, writers, or performers, intertwines literature, stories, and current affairs in an informal atmosphere accessible to all.
The Rimini stop of the StregaTour has seen great public success over the years, with long queues in front of the Galli Theatre and the hall often at full capacity. Free admission makes it a valuable opportunity to introduce readers of all ages to books and their authors, and to experience firsthand the magic of a prize that has been telling the story of Italy through its writers for over eighty years.
The 2026 edition of the StregaTour in Rimini takes on a special significance: the Strega Prize celebrates its 80th anniversary. The Rimini stop, the fourth in a row, hosts the finalist five (actually six) selected on June 3rd at the Roman Theatre of Benevento, bringing the protagonists of Italian fiction of the year to the stage of the Galli Theatre.
The six finalists of the 80th edition are: Michele Mari with I convitati di pietra, Matteo Nucci with Platone. Una storia d'amore, Bianca Pitzorno with La sonnambula, Teresa Ciabatti with Donnaregina, Alcide Pierantozzi with Lo sbilico, and Elena Rui with Vedove di Camus.
Teatro Amintore Galli, Piazza Cavour 22, in the historic centre of Rimini (RN), Emilia-Romagna.
The theatre is located in the heart of the city, a short walk from Rimini train station. By car, the nearest motorway exits are Rimini Nord or Rimini Sud on the A14; parking is available in the city centre areas. Rimini-Miramare Federico Fellini Airport is about 8 km away.
