Narrative theatre in the summer courtyard of Villa Torlonia, in San Mauro Pascoli
The name says it all: Revèrso is the inversion of the theatrical space, from the inner heart of Villa Torlonia towards the outside of its courtyard. When summer arrives, the permanent theatre of San Mauro Pascoli moves outdoors, transforming the villa's garden into an open-air auditorium under the stars. It is here, in the Municipality of San Mauro Pascoli, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, that one of the most beloved events of the Romagna cultural summer is renewed each year.
The festival takes place at Villa Torlonia — Parco Poesia Pascoli, the place of memory linked to Giovanni Pascoli: the villa, known as "la Torre" (the Tower), was at the center of the agricultural estates that the poet's father, Ruggero, managed. To stage theatre here means doing so in a space steeped in history and atmosphere, just a stone's throw from the poet's birthplace. The summer courtyard of Villa Torlonia thus becomes a natural stage for performances that engage with the beauty of the Emilia-Romagna landscape.
Curated by the organization Sillaba, Revèrso is not just a season of performances, but a project that connects contemporary languages: narrative theatre, author music, poetic word, and even new storytellers from the web. On stage, major names in Italian theatre and entertainment alternate with speakers, investigative journalists, and protagonists of contemporary narrative, in a program that each summer blends comedy, reflection, science, and literature.
Revèrso is the theatrical heart of the Estate Sammaurese (Sammaurese Summer), the rich program of summer events that the Municipality of San Mauro Pascoli offers between June and August, with concerts, exhibitions, and entertainment. In the same spaces of Villa Torlonia, there are also collateral events, such as photographic exhibitions and opera evenings, which make the villa a vibrant cultural hub throughout the season.
Those looking for a different kind of summer, filled with live storytelling and encounters with authors and artists, will find their ideal place at Revèrso. The intimate setting of the courtyard, the limited number of seats, and the quality of the programming make each evening an intimate experience, far from large gatherings and close instead to the human scale that was dear to Pascoli himself.
The summer open-air theatre festival returns to the courtyard of Villa Torlonia — Parco Poesia Pascoli in San Mauro Pascoli, province of Forlì-Cesena, from June 14 to August 4, 2026. This year again, Sillaba offers a program that blends narrative theatre, author music, poetic language, and new storytellers from the web, in the splendid setting of the villa's garden.
The 2026 festival opens with two major names: Fabio De Luigi and Roberto Mercadini.
Throughout the summer, the courtyard of Villa Torlonia hosts a lineup that intertwines narrative theatre, comedy, popular science, and contemporary storytelling. Among the announced protagonists:
