Stramangiando – Food and Wine Walk

A walk where taste takes the lead

Stramangiando is the most anticipated spring event in Castagneto Po, a small town on the Turin hills overlooking the Po River in Piedmont, just a stone's throw from the Monferrato area. Organized by the Castagneto Po Pro Loco, the event follows a simple and successful formula: an 8-10 kilometer loop trail through the local woods, punctuated by various tasting stations. At each stop, hikers can savor local food and beverages, turning a nature walk into an authentic gastronomic journey through traditional Piedmontese flavors.

The route through woods and hills

The itinerary follows the hilly, wooded paths surrounding the town, offering stunning views of the Turin Hill landscape and the Po River. It is a mixed-terrain route, partly on roads and partly through the woods, requiring appropriate footwear: the Pro Loco recommends hiking boots or sports shoes and comfortable clothing. The route is not suitable for strollers, while dogs are welcome if kept on a leash. Participants are divided into groups of about forty people, with staggered departures throughout the morning, ensuring each group can enjoy the hike and the gastronomic stops at their own pace without overcrowding.

The heart of Stramangiando lies in the tastings distributed along the trail. By walking from stop to stop, participants discover dishes and specialties that tell the story of the local cuisine, paired with local wines and drinks.
