About StraLicata

StraLicata is a competitive 10 km road race that brings the historic center of Licata, in the province of Agrigento, to life every winter. Organized by ASD Atletica Licata, the event is part of the national FIDAL Bronze-level calendar and is World Athletics certified. Runners tackle a scenic 3,333-meter city circuit three times, winding through the marina, the seafront, and the pedestrian area. It is a true celebration of sport that attracts hundreds of athletes from across Sicily, alongside youth races and a Paralympic event.

StraLicata: the race that runs through Licata

StraLicata is the premier running event in the municipality of Licata, a seaside town in the province of Agrigento, Sicily. It is a competitive 10-kilometer race organized by ASD Atletica Licata in collaboration with the local council. Established in 2018, the race has grown with every edition to become one of the most anticipated events on the Sicilian early-season running calendar.

A city circuit between history and the sea

The course follows a 3,333-meter city circuit, which participants complete three times to reach the 10 km distance. The route winds through the historic center, runs alongside the marina and the Marinai d'Italia quay, and passes through the pedestrian area of Via Principe di Napoli. It is a fast and spectacular course: the elevation varies only between 9 and 23 meters above sea level, with an average gradient of less than 1%, making it ideal for those chasing a personal best. The meeting point and start line are in Piazza Progresso, in the heart of the city.

A certified federal race

StraLicata is included in the national FIDAL calendar with a Bronze classification and is World Athletics certified. The event kicks off the Sicily Bronze Races circuit and is also part of the Agrigento Grand Prix โ€“ ACSI Trophy, making it a key fixture for athletes on the island, from seniors to masters of all categories.

More than just a 10 km race

  • Youth races for beginner, junior, and cadet categories over shorter distances;
  • A dedicated event for Paralympic athletes;
  • Awards for the top finishers in each category and recognition for the largest participating clubs.

A celebration for the city

Beyond the competition, StraLicata is a true community festival that involves all of Licata: streets are closed to traffic, spectators line the route, and hundreds of athletes bring color to the historic center. Participation grows year after year, with sports clubs arriving from all over Sicily, confirming the event as an unmissable date on the regional running calendar.
