Statuto Fair

A historic fair brought back to life

The Statuto Fair is one of the most deeply rooted events in the memory of Alia, a town of just under four thousand inhabitants nestled on the southwestern slopes of the Madonie mountains, in the province of Palermo, Sicily. Known as the "Garden City" and founded in 1617, Alia maintains a strong agro-pastoral vocation, and the fair—restored by the municipal administration after a long hiatus—revolves entirely around this identity.

The livestock heart of the event

The Statuto Fair is primarily a livestock trade fair, with a special focus on sheep farming, a sector of primary importance for Alia and the surrounding municipalities. The municipal livestock park comes alive with the exhibition and sale of animals, local breeders, and stands dedicated to the agricultural and local craft sectors.

Conferences, tours, and tastings

Alongside the fair itself, the day is enriched by numerous side activities:

• Thematic conferences on livestock farming, shepherding, and the promotion of local produce;
• Guided tours to discover the village and its unique features, such as the evocative Grotte della Gurfa;
• Tastings of cheeses, meats, and typical products from the Madonie;
