Four nights of music, dancing, and local cuisine to welcome the summer in the Roero region
Every year at the end of June, the San Rocco district in the municipality of Montà (province of Cuneo, Piedmont) transforms into a lively outdoor gathering spot for the Start of Summer Festival. It is one of those classic village festivals that define the Roero calendar: four consecutive nights where music, dance, and food come together to welcome the arrival of the sunny season.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco of San Rocco di Montà, which brings together volunteers and local residents every summer to set up the food stand, the bar, and the main stage. It is a festival deeply rooted in the community, attracting not only locals but also visitors from neighboring towns in the Roero area.
The program offers a variety of styles and atmospheres: from dance nights with orchestras and ballroom DJs to Latin American nights with Caribbean rhythms, as well as live concerts by party bands and DJ sets that keep the night alive. One of the most anticipated events is the "Cuba Libre Night," a recurring tradition dedicated to Latin sounds, now in its twentieth year.
On Sunday, in addition to the evening entertainment, the festival maintains its community and religious spirit with a Mass celebrated in the morning, followed by an aperitif before the evening festivities.
The heart of the festival is the food and wine stand, accompanied by the bar, which is open every evening. It is the perfect place to enjoy traditional Piedmontese and Roero dishes in an informal setting, sitting at outdoor tables before and during the shows. Over the years, the festival has also featured local vendors, such as artisanal gelato, to round out the experience.
Montà is located in the Roero, a hilly region north of the Tanaro river famous for its wines, the Rocche del Roero hiking trails, and its charming rural villages. Experiencing the Start of Summer Festival in San Rocco is a great way to discover this authentic corner of the province of Cuneo, where district festivals remain a fundamental part of community life.
The 2026 edition of the Start of Summer Festival in the San Rocco district of Montà (CN) is scheduled from Friday, June 26 to Monday, June 29, 2026, maintaining the traditional four-night format. The event is part of the official June event calendar for the Municipality of Montà.
As per tradition, the food and wine stand and the bar will be active every evening, featuring music and dance. The detailed program—including orchestras, party bands, and DJ sets—will be released by the Pro Loco of San Rocco in the weeks preceding the festival.
