A food and wine stroll through the Monferrato vineyards along the Le 8 Barche trail
The Spring Walk is one of the most anticipated events in the calendar of Castelletto Molina, a tiny village of about 140 inhabitants nestled in the hills of the Upper Monferrato, in the province of Asti and the heart of Piedmont. Organized by the Pro Loco of Castelletto Molina, it is a non-competitive walk open to everyone, designed for those who love to stroll at a leisurely pace while enjoying the landscape of blooming vineyards.
The route follows the famous Le 8 Barche itinerary, a 12-kilometre pedestrian and cycling path that crosses the vine and hazelnut rows typical of this corner of Monferrato. Along the way, you will find eight equipped picnic areas, each marked by a boat that serves as a stop: each boat has been adopted by a local winery and, thanks to a QR Code, tells the story of the land and its most renowned wines, from Barbera to Moscato and Cortese. It is an original way to discover the local viticulture step by step.
The Spring Walk is not a race but a social gathering where the pace is set by the stroll itself, and the goal is to enjoy the outdoors together. The Monferrato hills, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offer a landscape of rare beauty in spring, with awakening vineyards and villages dotting the ridges.
The food and wine experience is an integral part of the event. The day begins with a welcome breakfast featuring focaccia, brioche, and coffee; upon registration, each participant receives a bag with sandwiches (salami and frittata) and water, to be enjoyed as a picnic during the break among the vines. Those who prefer not to purchase the meal can still take part in the walk for free.
The event is part of the activities through which the Pro Loco enlivens the village throughout the year, accompanied in autumn by the Walk through the colors of autumn. It is a great opportunity to experience Castelletto Molina, promote its territory, and support the local association's activities.
The 2026 Spring Walk was held on Sunday, April 19 in Castelletto Molina, in the Asti Upper Monferrato. The day, organized by the Pro Loco, saw great participation along the Le 8 Barche trail through the Barbera, Moscato, and Cortese vineyards. Registration took place in the morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, with bookings open in the preceding days.

A contribution of 10 euros includes breakfast (focaccia, brioche, and coffee) and a picnic bag with salami and frittata sandwiches and water. The walk alone, without refreshments, is free. Booking with the Pro Loco in the days prior to the event is recommended.
Castelletto Molina is located in the Upper Monferrato, in the province of Asti, about 25 km south-east of Asti and reachable by car from the Nizza Monferrato and Acqui Terme area. We recommend wearing comfortable trekking shoes.
