The major trade fair welcoming spring in the heart of Avigliana
The Spring Trade Fair is one of the most anticipated events in the calendar of Avigliana, a town in the lower Susa Valley in the Province of Turin, Piedmont. Organized by the Municipal Department of Commerce together with the Urban Commerce District, the fair attracts thousands of visitors every year who take advantage of the first Sunday of May for a day of shopping and outdoor leisure.
The heart of the event winds along Corso Torino and Corso Dora, the two main arteries of the historic center, which are closed to traffic for the entire day. Here, about one hundred exhibitors from not only Piedmont but also numerous other Italian regions set up their stalls, offering a wide and varied range of products.
The Spring Fair is not just an opportunity for shopping: it is a moment of social connection that brings residents and visitors from neighboring towns out into the streets. The pedestrianized roads become a large open-air lounge where one can stroll calmly, stop at the cafes and businesses in the center, and breathe in the sparkling atmosphere of early May. The event promotes local commerce and strengthens Avigliana's identity as a vibrant service hub of the Susa Valley.
The fair is also an excellent opportunity to discover Avigliana, a charming village dominated by the ruins of a medieval castle and overlooking the evocative Avigliana Lakes, now a natural park. A few kilometers away stands the Sacra di San Michele, a symbol of Piedmont. Those visiting the fair can thus combine shopping with a walk through the historical landmarks of the center and the natural vistas that make this corner of the Province of Turin a popular destination in every season.
The Spring Fair is usually held on the first Sunday of May, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Admission is free.
By car: Avigliana can be reached via the A32 Turin–Bardonecchia motorway, taking the Avigliana Est or Avigliana Ovest exit. On the day of the fair, Corso Torino and Corso Dora are closed to traffic from 6:00 AM; it is recommended to park in the areas adjacent to the center.
The Avigliana station is served by the Turin–Modane railway line (SFM3), with frequent connections from Turin Porta Nuova and Porta Susa.
