Wild asparagus takes center stage in Pigozzo di Verona
The Festa della Sparasina is held in Pigozzo, a hilly hamlet in the Valsquaranto, in the territory of Verona. The absolute protagonist is the sparasina, the wild asparagus that grows spontaneously in the woods of the area and gives its name to the event.
The food stalls, set up in the central square of the village, offer a wide variety of dishes based on sparasina and wild herbs: from risotto with sparasina to mixed wild herbs, from porchetta to bruschetta. It is an opportunity to rediscover the flavors of the ancient Veronese peasant cuisine, linked to the harvest of seasonal herbs.
The festival offers entertainment for all ages: magic shows, circus entertainment, guided walks in the woods to discover wild herbs, and musical evenings. Activities for children make the festival suitable for the whole family.
Organized by the Associazione La Sparasina, the event has become a spring classic in the Verona area, in Veneto, capable of attracting visitors from all over the province to Pigozzo to taste a humble yet precious product that tells the identity of this valley.
The 38th Festa della Sparasina was held on April 19, 25, 26, and May 1, 2026, in Pigozzo, in the Veronese Valsquaranto.
