About Magnalonga of Lugagnano

The Magnalonga of Lugagnano is a food and wine walk that winds through the courtyards and country lanes of the hamlet of Lugagnano di Sona, in the province of Verona. Born in 2004, it has become an unmissable event at the beginning of September: participants walk from stage to stage, stopping to taste typical dishes and local wines in the company of friends and families. Participants start in groups at staggered times, to savour each stop along the route at their leisure.

Walking and Eating Through the Courtyards of Lugagnano

The Magnalonga of Lugagnano combines two simple pleasures: a walk in the Veronese countryside and good food. It is a food and wine walk that crosses the courtyards and country lanes of the hamlet of Lugagnano, in the Municipality of Sona (province of Verona), with numerous stops to taste typical dishes and local wines.

How it Works

Participants are divided into groups of 50-60 people and start at staggered times (approximately every 20 minutes), in order to distribute the flow along the stages and allow each group to savour each course at their leisure. The menu ranges from appetizers, first courses, second courses, cheeses, cured meats, and desserts, accompanied by wine and often by ice cream and coffee at the end.

A Village Festival for Charity

Conceived in 2004, the Magnalonga has become an eagerly awaited event not only by the residents of Lugagnano but also by many enthusiasts of food and wine walks from the Veronese area. The organization is coordinated by the Pro Loco Sona along with numerous local associations and volunteer groups, and the proceeds are traditionally allocated to charity projects.
