The Ancient Saint Martin's Fair

In Tregnago, a municipality in Lessinia in the province of Verona, the Ancient Saint Martin's Fair is one of the most cherished events of the autumn calendar. Originally a peasant festival, it historically marked the end of the agricultural year and the beginning of winter: it was the time when debts were settled, land leases were renewed, and preparations were made for the cold season.

For several days, Tregnago comes alive with a large outdoor market dedicated to local agricultural products, gastronomy, and crafts. There are also livestock exhibitions featuring cows, horses, and sheep, reflecting the valley's rural vocation, alongside food and wine stands and cultural events.

Alongside the market, the fair offers a rich program of initiatives: the collective art exhibition "Art Meets Tregnago," the Nello Livellini Cinema Museum, the Alpini Hut, conferences (from sustainable viticulture to CAI mountain topics), children's shows, live music, and dance evenings. Everything is curated by the Pro Loco Città di Tregnago, the organizational heart of the event.
