The Awakening of Valtellina

Every spring, Sondrio Primavera – Fiera del Biologico della Montagna Alpina marks the beginning of the warm season in the capital of Valtellina. It is the event with which the city celebrates the awakening of nature, intertwining organic farming, sustainable tourism, and well-being in a weekend of widespread celebration throughout the squares and historic buildings of the centre.

A Showcase for Alpine Organic Products

The heart of the event is the large Organic Fair, with over seventy exhibiting companies from all over Italy, about twenty of which are from Valtellina. Under the marquee in Piazza Garibaldi, you'll find alpine cheeses, honeys, preserves, wines, natural cosmetics, and zero-kilometre products, while the flower and gardening market brings the colours and scents of spring to the city.

Show Cooking, Conferences, and Workshops

The programme alternates between in-depth sessions and convivial occasions. It begins with a conference dedicated to Sondrio as the heart of Valtellina and a network of synergies between culture and sustainable tourism, hosted in the rooms of the Teatro Sociale, followed by master show cooking sessions and talks on the value of food. Workshops range from beekeeping to painting, from biodiversity to juice preparation, with events dedicated to Pfeiffer chromatography and outdoor yoga sessions.

Experiencing the City

Sondrio Primavera is also an invitation to discover the territory: cultural visits to the Torre Ligariana and the Wine Rooms, trekking, e-bike excursions through terraced vineyards, and walks to discover the Valtellina landscape. A programme designed for families, nature enthusiasts, and the curious, where sustainability is not just a slogan but a concrete way of experiencing the mountains.

A Local Event

The event is organised by the Municipality of Sondrio as part of the Interreg Smartbioval project, in collaboration with the Valtellina Organic District. An initiative that tells the story of the province of Sondrio through its agricultural excellences and its deep connection with the Alpine environment.
