The Bitto Cheese Fair in Morbegno
The Bitto Cheese Exhibition is the historic cheese fair in Morbegno (Province of Sondrio), dedicated to the famous Bitto, the symbolic cheese of Valtellina produced in the mountain pastures according to an ancient tradition. With over a hundred editions, it is one of the most important and long-standing agri-food events in the Alps, capable of attracting producers, experts, and gourmets from all over Italy to Morbegno.
Tastings, competitions, and workshops
During the event, the historic center transforms into a large village of taste: the stars are tastings of Bitto and other Valtellina cheeses and local products, cheese competitions that award the best wheels, and workshops and activities for children. It's an opportunity to get to know the work of the mountain pastures and the cheese-making culture of a territory that has made Bitto a recognized excellence.
A tradition that heralds autumn
Traditionally held on the third weekend of October, the Bitto Cheese Exhibition is one of the events that mark the autumn in Valtellina, accompanied by music, entertainment, and markets. For a few days, Morbegno becomes the capital of taste, in a celebration that combines the promotion of local products with the pleasure of conviviality, in the heart of Bassa Valtellina.

The 2026 edition, the 119th, is expected for the third weekend of October, following the tradition that places the Bitto Cheese Exhibition in this period (the 118th took place on October 18-19, 2025). The historic center of Morbegno hosts tastings of Bitto and typical products, cheese competitions, workshops, music, and activities for children.
