The Orobica Goat Festival

Capre in Festa is the show that, in autumn, celebrates the Orobica goat in Valgoglio (province of Bergamo), an indigenous breed raised in the Lombardy mountains. Organized by the Municipality of Valgoglio, the event attracts breeders and enthusiasts from all over the Orobic area and the nearby Valtellina, united around one of the most distinctive traditions of the upper Val Seriana.

A Day of Shepherds and Tradition

The program combines religious and zootechnical aspects: it begins in the morning with the gathering of participants and the Mass for shepherds and breeders, followed by the blessing of the animals and the opening of the competitive exhibition, with the election of the king and queen of the show. At noon, lunch is served in the oratory and in the village restaurants. In the afternoon, there's a prize draw and music, while the gymnasium hosts Christmas markets.

In Valgoglio, Upper Val Seriana

Valgoglio is a small mountain municipality in the upper Val Seriana, in the province of Bergamo. For the community, Capre in Festa is the event that, on the eve of winter, celebrates the local pastoral heritage and the Orobica goat, in a day that combines celebration, tradition, and conviviality.
