The widespread theatre, music, and performing arts festival of the Piana Rotaliana Königsberg
The Solstizio d'Estate — Art & Music Festival is one of the most deeply rooted and long-standing cultural events in Trentino-Alto Adige. Born in 1992 and organized by the volunteer association Gruppo Arte Mezzocorona, the festival transforms the Piana Rotaliana Königsberg into a grand open-air stage every June. The heart of the event is the Municipality of Mezzocorona (Province of Trento), where the main shows take place in the evocative Corte di Palazzo Martini, though the festival also involves the nearby villages of Mezzolombardo, San Michele all'Adige, Roveré della Luna, Faedo, and Lavis.
Solstizio d'Estate is not just a season of shows: it is a widespread cultural project that intertwines prose theatre, comedy, live music, dance, and itinerant performances. Courtyards, historic gardens, parks, wineries, and even forests become natural stage sets, inviting the public to rediscover the territory through art. Each edition revolves around a theme that engages with current events and the community, offering a fresh perspective on the present.
With over three decades of activity, the festival has become a reference point for the Trentino public and artists of the contemporary Italian scene. The event complements evening shows with guided tours, tastings of local products, and itineraries through the palaces, museums, and wineries of the Rotaliana, a land famous for its Teroldego wine. This deep bond between live performance, viticultural landscape, and local identity makes Solstizio d'Estate a unique cultural experience in the Trentino-Alto Adige panorama.
Solstizio d'Estate represents the ability of a small community to create quality culture, bringing important names of Italian theatre and music into an intimate and welcoming context, among the vineyards and villages of the Rotaliana.
For its thirty-fifth anniversary, Solstizio d'Estate chose the theme «The kids are all, right?», an investigation into the well-being of young people and the ability of adults to truly see them. From May 28 to June 20, 2026, a dozen shows enlivened the most characteristic locations of the Piana Rotaliana Königsberg.
Key events included: on June 4 in Lavis, La fisica dell'estate with Vincenzo Schettini; on June 10 in Mezzocorona, Odi et amo by Compagnia Alma Rosè; on June 13 in Mezzocorona, the monologue Sul lastrico by Maurizio Lastrico; on June 14 in Faedo, Figure di luce – Frame Theatre by Franco Maurina; on June 17, La difficilissima storia della vita di Ciccio Speranza. The festival closed on June 20 in Mezzocorona with Varietà Tacco 12 by Nina's Drag Queens. Completing the program was the exhibition «35 years of Solstizio d'Estate» featuring posters and archival materials.
Mezzocorona is located in the Province of Trento, along the Adige Valley. By car, it can be reached via the A22 Brenner motorway, taking the San Michele all'Adige/Mezzocorona exit. By train, the Mezzocorona station is served by the Trento-Bolzano line and the Trento-Malé-Mezzana railway.
Show tickets generally range between 10 and 20 euros; many events are free for those under 18. Presale tickets and information are available on the official website solstiziodestate.it.
Many shows take place outdoors in the evening: we recommend clothing suitable for cool mountain nights. The area offers numerous wineries and farmhouses where you can combine your visit with a tasting of Rotaliana wines.
