About Gangi Equestrian Parade

Every year in mid-June, Gangi becomes the meeting point for riders from across central Sicily. The Sicilian Equestrian Associations Parade is a gathering that brings together around 150 participants from the Madonie, Nebrodi, and Enna regions. Starting from the Foro Boario in Contrada Magione, the procession winds through rural paths and ancient trails, concluding with a convivial lunch featuring local products. It is an event that captures the rural soul of the village and celebrates the ancient equestrian traditions of the Madonie.

A horseback gathering in the heart of the Madonie

The Sicilian Equestrian Associations Parade is one of the most cherished events of the summer in Gangi, a village in the Province of Palermo perched in the Madonie mountains and considered one of the most beautiful in Italy. Every year around mid-June, the event attracts riders of all ages from across central Sicily: from the Madonie and Nebrodi ranges to the Enna area. It is a celebration that blends a passion for horses, a rediscovery of the rural landscape, and community spirit.

The route through ancient trails and rural landscapes

The gathering takes place at the Foro Boario in Contrada Magione, from where the group sets off on a long itinerary winding through paths, ancient trails, and the characteristic rural landscapes of the Gangi territory. The ride allows participants to traverse some of the most evocative natural vistas between the slopes of the Madonie and Nebrodi, rediscovering historical routes once traveled by shepherds and farmers.

Tradition, community, and rural tourism

The event is organized by the Madonita Equestrian Association, with the patronage of the Municipality of Gangi and the collaboration of the Pro Loco. The event, reaching its twenty-first edition in 2026, is now a well-established tradition that promotes local heritage, strengthens community bonds, and boosts rural tourism in the Madonie district.

The village of Gangi

The backdrop for the event is Gangi, in the Province of Palermo, one of the most fascinating villages in Sicily. Awarded the title of "Borgo dei Borghi" (Village of Villages), the town preserves a medieval historic center of rare beauty and overlooks a hilly landscape that ideally connects the Madonie and Nebrodi Parks. The equestrian parade is also an opportunity to discover this territory from the privileged vantage point of the saddle.
