The B2B hub for Sicilian wine and agri-food in the heart of the Sicani Mountains
Sicilia Wine, launched in 2025 under the name Sicily on Wine, is a commercial matchmaking event that brings the island's wine and agri-food leaders to the heart of inland Sicily. The venue is the evocative Monastery of the Olivetan Fathers dedicated to Saint Leonard, a 17th-century building in Chiusa Sclafani, a village in the Sicani Mountains in the province of Palermo. For three days, this small town in western Sicily becomes a true operational business platform, where wineries and producers meet foreign operators from three continents.
The event is promoted by Sicindustria, a partner of the European Enterprise Europe Network, with the support of the Municipality of Chiusa Sclafani and international partners in the agri-food sector. The stated goal is to strengthen the internationalization of Sicilian small and medium-sized enterprises, open new markets, and consolidate commercial relationships with importers, distributors, retail chains, and HoReCa operators.
The heart of Sicilia Wine lies in its scheduled bilateral meetings: pre-arranged, thirty-minute sessions between Sicilian companies and international buyers, resulting in hundreds of business appointments concentrated over a few days. Alongside matchmaking, the program offers:
Originally conceived as a wine showcase, the event has progressively expanded its scope: in addition to wineries, producers of extra virgin olive oil and ancient grain flours now participate, offering buyers a more comprehensive overview of Sicilian production quality and its entire agri-food system.
Sicilia Wine weaves business together with themes of sustainability and social inclusion thanks to the European project Grapes of Change, funded by the CERV program and dedicated to gender equality in the wine sector. During the event, producers and operators sign a manifesto of common commitment.
Participating in Sicilia Wine also means getting to know Chiusa Sclafani and the Sicani Mountains, an inland area of Sicily still untouched by mass tourism, featuring Baroque churches, agricultural landscapes, and an authentic food and wine tradition. The annual event is confirmed as one of the most important appointments for the internationalization of the regional wine sector.
The second edition of Sicilia Wine was held from March 21 to 23, 2026, in Chiusa Sclafani, in the province of Palermo. Organized by Sicindustria with the Enterprise Europe Network, it brought together around 50 Sicilian companies and 15 international buyers from twelve countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Switzerland.
On March 21, the B2B matchmaking opened with thirty-minute bilateral meetings between producers and foreign operators: a total of over 400 business appointments. The program included masterclasses on extra virgin olive oil and Sicilian ancient grains, as well as the European project Grapes of Change on gender equality, with the signing of a common commitment manifesto.
The edition confirmed the opening to oil and flours alongside wine. Among the first agreements signed were supplies of Monti Iblei oil to Latvia and organic wine from the Nisseno area destined for Lithuania. The president of Sicindustria, Luigi Rizzolo, highlighted the ability of Sicilian companies to seize opportunities in emerging markets.
