About Cellars Trail

The Camporeale Cellars Trail is a nature run winding through the hills, valleys, and vineyards of the Camporeale municipality in the province of Palermo. Part of the Sicily Trail Challenge Regional Circuit, the event blends sport, wellness, friendship, and the promotion of local food and wine: the routes pass through local wineries, while race packs and prizes showcase the town's artisanal and entrepreneurial spirit. Three options are available: a 21 km competitive trail, a 10 km run, and a nature walk suitable for families and enthusiasts.

A run through the vineyards of Western Sicily

The Camporeale Cellars Trail is one of the most cherished sporting events in the Palermo hinterland. Every year at the end of October, the small town of Camporeale welcomes runners and walkers from all over Sicily for a day dedicated to nature running, exploring the local landscape, and celebrating regional wine. The course winds through the hills, valleys, and vineyards surrounding the town, passing through some of the wineries that have made this part of Western Sicily famous.

The Routes

The event offers three different formats, designed to accommodate both seasoned athletes and families:

  • Long Trail: approx. 21 km with a 980m elevation gain, the flagship race and most popular choice;
  • Short Trail: 10 km with approx. 670m elevation gain, ideal for those new to mountain running;
  • Nature Walk: approx. 5 km, non-competitive, suitable for everyone and perfect for enjoying the scenery at a leisurely pace.

The race starts in the morning, usually around 7:00 AM, from the Baglio area adjacent to the Palazzo del Principe in the heart of Camporeale.

Sport, Territory, and Legality

The Cellars Trail is more than just a race: it is a regional promotion project that intertwines sport, health, friendship, and legality. The event, part of the Sicily Trail Challenge Regional Circuit, promotes sustainable tourism and environmental respect while highlighting local agricultural and food products. Race packs and prizes feature local specialties and artisanal creations, supporting Camporeale's local businesses.

An Event for the Whole Community

Organized by the Camporealando, Nonsolocorsa, and Eccellenze a Camporeale associations, the trail attracts hundreds of participants and their families every year. The day concludes with social gatherings, tastings, and award ceremonies in a festive atmosphere that involves the entire community of Camporeale and the Alto Belice Corleonese area in Western Sicily.

Cellars Trail — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Camporeale Cellars Trail is expected, as per tradition, towards the end of October. Precise dates and the detailed program for 2026 have not yet been announced by the organizers. The event will confirm the usual routes through the hills and wineries of the Camporeale territory in the province of Palermo.

The Camporeale Cellars Trail is expected to return, according to the usual calendar, towards the end of October 2026. At the moment, the official dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been published by the organizing associations. The event is expected to feature the three usual formats: the 21 km trail, the 10 km run, and the nature walk. For final dates, registration, and regulations, it is recommended to consult the official channels of the Sicily Trail Challenge Circuit and the Camporeale associations.
