A race through the vineyards, hills, and wineries of the Palermo hinterland
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Camporeale Cellars Trail is one of the most cherished sporting events in the Palermo hinterland. Every year at the end of October, the small town of Camporeale welcomes runners and walkers from all over Sicily for a day dedicated to nature running, exploring the local landscape, and celebrating regional wine. The course winds through the hills, valleys, and vineyards surrounding the town, passing through some of the wineries that have made this part of Western Sicily famous.
The event offers three different formats, designed to accommodate both seasoned athletes and families:
The race starts in the morning, usually around 7:00 AM, from the Baglio area adjacent to the Palazzo del Principe in the heart of Camporeale.
The Cellars Trail is more than just a race: it is a regional promotion project that intertwines sport, health, friendship, and legality. The event, part of the Sicily Trail Challenge Regional Circuit, promotes sustainable tourism and environmental respect while highlighting local agricultural and food products. Race packs and prizes feature local specialties and artisanal creations, supporting Camporeale's local businesses.
Organized by the Camporealando, Nonsolocorsa, and Eccellenze a Camporeale associations, the trail attracts hundreds of participants and their families every year. The day concludes with social gatherings, tastings, and award ceremonies in a festive atmosphere that involves the entire community of Camporeale and the Alto Belice Corleonese area in Western Sicily.
The Camporeale Cellars Trail is expected to return, according to the usual calendar, towards the end of October 2026. At the moment, the official dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been published by the organizing associations. The event is expected to feature the three usual formats: the 21 km trail, the 10 km run, and the nature walk. For final dates, registration, and regulations, it is recommended to consult the official channels of the Sicily Trail Challenge Circuit and the Camporeale associations.
Camporeale (PA) can be reached by car from Palermo in about an hour, taking the SS624 Palermo-Sciacca highway and exiting towards Alto Belice. The nearest airport is Palermo-Punta Raisi.
Meeting point and start at the Baglio area, adjacent to the Palazzo del Principe, in the center of Camporeale. The start is in the morning (usually at 7:00 AM).
Registration for the trail is around 15 euros, with reduced fees for the nature walk. Registration details and the updated regulations are published on the Sicily Trail Challenge Circuit website and the organizers' social media channels.
Trail running shoes, technical clothing, and a water supply are recommended. The long course features a challenging elevation gain: please assess your fitness level accordingly.
