A cultural bridge between the Mediterranean and the Lusophone world

The Sete Sóis Sete Luas Festival is one of the most long-standing and original cultural events in the municipality of Pontedera, in the heart of the province of Pisa, Tuscany. Established in 1993, the festival brings together an international network spanning dozens of cities in over ten countries bordering the Mediterranean and linked to the Lusophone world, from Portugal to Brazil, Cape Verde to Greece, and Spain to Tunisia. Its mission is clear: to promote dialogue between peoples, mutual understanding, and peace through folk music, visual arts, and gastronomy.

The Centrum, the festival's beating heart

In Pontedera, the festival has found a permanent home at the Centrum Sete Sóis Sete Luas, located at Viale Rinaldo Piaggio 82. This venue hosts exhibitions, workshops, residencies, and cultural meetings that enliven the city not just in summer, but all year round. Here, artists, musicians, and painters from the network's countries find a space for creation and exchange, giving life to original projects and true national premieres.

The festival summer

The highlight is the summer season, when the event moves out of the Centrum and reaches the historic center of Pontedera and the surrounding hamlets, as well as the nearby area of Calcinaia. Locations involved include Corso Matteotti, the La Rotta River Park, the squares of Treggiaia and Montecastello, and evocative open-air spaces along the river. The program alternates world music concerts, contemporary circus and street art performances, art exhibitions, and gastronomic moments dedicated to the cuisines of the represented cultures.
