About Sergio Chiarlo Festival — Moretta

In Moretta, in the province of Cuneo, the Sergio Chiarlo International Choral Festival brings its most anticipated event to Piazza Europa: a grand open-air evening where Italian and international choirs meet and perform in the name of music. Organized by the Coro Milanollo of Savigliano, the Moretta stage is a choral celebration that transforms the center of this Piedmontese town every June into a stage for diverse voices, traditions, and cultures, with free admission.

An evening of European voices in the heart of Moretta

Every June, the Sergio Chiarlo International Choral Festival selects Moretta, in the Province of Cuneo, as the venue for one of its most evocative evenings. In Piazza Europa, under the open Piedmontese summer sky, choirs from Italy and abroad gather for a collective concert that is both a musical spectacle and a moment of connection between different communities.

The Moretta stage is part of a traveling festival that visits several municipalities in the Savigliano and Cuneo areas each year. In Moretta, the concert takes the form of a large open-air choral event, where each group presents its own repertoire before all joining together for a grand finale: a "musical exchange" that embodies the true spirit of the event.

The Coro Milanollo and the legacy of Sergio Chiarlo

The festival is organized by the Coro Milanollo of Savigliano, founded in 1975 by maestro Sergio Chiarlo, to whom the event is dedicated. Today, the choir is led by the founder's children, Natascia Chiarlo as director and Ivan Chiarlo on piano, and it stands as one of the most active and renowned choral groups in Piedmont. Through competitions, concerts, and international tours, the Coro Milanollo has become a true cultural ambassador for the Province of Cuneo over the years.

The Sergio Chiarlo Festival was born from this commitment to connection: each edition invites international groups to share the stage with local choirs, creating a dialogue between different repertoires, languages, and musical traditions. It is no coincidence that the Moretta evening is often titled "Voices of Europe in Concert".

What makes the Moretta stage special

  • Open-air concert in Piazza Europa, in the town center.
  • Italian and international choirs gathered for one night only.
  • Free admission with reservation: an event designed for the whole community.
  • A collective choral finale that unites all groups on stage.

For Moretta, a small town on the Cuneo plains, the festival is also an opportunity to enliven the historic center and open up to the world: for one evening, the square becomes a welcoming space for delegations arriving from various regions of Italy and, often, from other European countries.

An experience to enjoy

Those who love choral music will find a high-level program here, but the Moretta stage is also perfect for anyone simply looking to spend a different kind of summer evening outdoors, letting themselves be carried away by the harmonies of the voices. It is one of those events where Piedmont shows its most authentic and communal side, where the great choral tradition intertwines with the life of a small town.
