A celebration of maritime flavors in Marina di Torre Vado, in the heart of Salento
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sea Festival is one of the most beloved gastronomic events of the summer in Marina di Torre Vado, a renowned seaside destination belonging to the municipality of Morciano di Leuca, in the heart of lower Salento, in the province of Lecce. The festival was born as a tribute to the maritime traditions of this stretch of the Ionian coast, where fishing and sea life have always defined the rhythm of daily life and shaped the local cuisine.
The heart of the festival is its gastronomy. Along the promenade, just a short walk from the small harbor, stalls offer typical dishes of Salento's seafood cuisine, prepared according to recipes handed down by local fishermen:
Everything is served just steps from the water, in the convivial and relaxed atmosphere that defines summer evenings in Salento.
Good food is paired with a program of entertainment celebrating Apulian folk culture: folk groups and Salento pizzica dancers enliven the evening with performances that involve both adults and children. The event also features craft markets, local product stalls, and relaxation areas overlooking the sea, making it a perfect outing for the whole family.
Marina di Torre Vado is one of the most popular destinations on the Ionian coast of Salento, famous for its crystal-clear waters, natural pools, and proximity to Santa Maria di Leuca, the meeting point between the Ionian and Adriatic seas. The Sea Festival is part of the rich summer calendar of the Morciano di Leuca area, helping to promote the maritime identity and culinary excellence of this corner of Apulia. Admission is free, and the event typically takes place in August, at the height of the tourist season.
The Sea Festival in Marina di Torre Vado is expected to return in the summer of 2026, traditionally held in August along the coast of the seaside village of Morciano di Leuca, in the province of Lecce. The official dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced and the program will be published at a later date. We expect the usual gastronomic route featuring fried mixed fish, mussels, octopus, fish soup, and Salento pastries, accompanied by folk music and pizzica, with free admission. We recommend checking local channels for updates once they are released.
The festival takes place on the promenade of Marina di Torre Vado, a district of the municipality of Morciano di Leuca (LE), in the area overlooking the tourist marina.
By car: Torre Vado can be reached via the SP215 and the coastal roads of lower Salento; the nearest motorway exit is on the expressway to Santa Maria di Leuca. By train: the nearest railway station is Gagliano-Leuca (Ferrovie del Sud Est), followed by a bus or taxi ride. By plane: Brindisi-Salento Airport is about an hour and a half away.
Free admission. It is recommended to arrive early to find parking, given the summer crowds. Food and drinks are purchased directly at the individual stalls.
