About Sea Festival

The Sea Festival in Marina di Torre Vado is the premier summer event celebrating the maritime traditions of lower Salento, held in the seaside village of Morciano di Leuca, in the province of Lecce. Along the waterfront, just steps from the marina, food stalls offer a bounty of local delicacies including fried mixed fish, gratin mussels, grilled octopus, fish soup, and Salento pastries, all set to the rhythm of folk music and the traditional pizzica dance. A night of authentic flavors, conviviality, and Apulian folk culture, with free admission, overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian coast.

A festival dedicated to the Salento sea

The Sea Festival is one of the most beloved gastronomic events of the summer in Marina di Torre Vado, a renowned seaside destination belonging to the municipality of Morciano di Leuca, in the heart of lower Salento, in the province of Lecce. The festival was born as a tribute to the maritime traditions of this stretch of the Ionian coast, where fishing and sea life have always defined the rhythm of daily life and shaped the local cuisine.

The star flavors

The heart of the festival is its gastronomy. Along the promenade, just a short walk from the small harbor, stalls offer typical dishes of Salento's seafood cuisine, prepared according to recipes handed down by local fishermen:

  • Frittura di paranza (mixed fried fish) and freshly fried calamari
  • Gratin mussels and mussel soup
  • Octopus, grilled or cooked in a traditional pignata pot
  • Fish soup and seafood pasta dishes
  • Local wine and typical Salento desserts

Everything is served just steps from the water, in the convivial and relaxed atmosphere that defines summer evenings in Salento.

Folk music and entertainment

Good food is paired with a program of entertainment celebrating Apulian folk culture: folk groups and Salento pizzica dancers enliven the evening with performances that involve both adults and children. The event also features craft markets, local product stalls, and relaxation areas overlooking the sea, making it a perfect outing for the whole family.

Torre Vado and lower Salento

Marina di Torre Vado is one of the most popular destinations on the Ionian coast of Salento, famous for its crystal-clear waters, natural pools, and proximity to Santa Maria di Leuca, the meeting point between the Ionian and Adriatic seas. The Sea Festival is part of the rich summer calendar of the Morciano di Leuca area, helping to promote the maritime identity and culinary excellence of this corner of Apulia. Admission is free, and the event typically takes place in August, at the height of the tourist season.

Sea Festival — edition 2026
