Scorace Block Fest: Climbing in the heart of Sicily

The Scorace Block Fest is the premier Italian gathering dedicated to bouldering in Bosco Scorace, a vast area of sandstone blocks stretching across the village of Bruca, in the municipality of Buseto Palizzolo, in the province of Trapani, Western Sicily. Established as the first Sicilian bouldering festival, it has quickly become a reference point for climbing enthusiasts across Southern Italy, attracting climbers from all over the country and abroad.

Four days among the sandstone boulders

The festival spans several days of climbing, celebration, and community. The heart of the event is the amateur bouldering scoring contest, featuring pre-set routes evaluated by judges, with problems suitable for all levels scattered across classic sectors and new areas such as the one nicknamed "Il Cervello". Bosco Scorace boasts various sectors with boulders offering pockets, crimps, slabs, overhangs, and features—a diverse terrain that satisfies both beginners and the most experienced climbers.

More than just climbing

Beyond the competition, Scorace Block Fest offers a rich program of side activities that make it an experience of sport, wellness, and nature:

• Slackline and freestyle exhibitions;
• The DolmenWall, a climbing wall set up in the village square of Bruca to experience climbing in an urban context;
• Yoga and acroyoga sessions, pole dance lessons;
• Nature excursions, presentation of the Scorace Boulder guidebook, and meetings with guest athletes;
• Live music, DJ sets, and convivial evenings featuring local cuisine.

A sustainable and identity-driven event

The Scorace Block Fest is held biennially, a choice rooted in the desire to protect the forest environment and promote the territory sustainably. In the evenings, the square in Bruca transforms into a meeting point filled with bonfires, singing, dancing, and local products, in an atmosphere of Sicilian slowness and authenticity. The event is organized by the ASD Scorace Climbing Team together with Dolmen Climb, with the patronage of the Municipality of Buseto Palizzolo and the local Pro Loco, and contributes to raising awareness of the natural heritage of the province of Trapani and Sicily.
